Please can someone help me out or has anyone experienced this...it has happened twice in a space of 1 month. First happened at the mall...I went shopping with my mum and while i was at the cash register i started feeling dizzy and the next thing was i heard my mum calling my name and she was behind me holding me...she said i was almost falling to the ground...i sat for a while and sipped some juice.....The second was yesterday...i was at a party, standing by the counter and talking to someone and the next thing i heard my uncle saying should he call an ambulance...i found myself on the floor.....he said while we where talking my eyes started to dim and i slowly started falling to the ground.....i went in today to see my doctor...blood pressure and blood sugar level normal....he is having me do a blood work and EKG....has anyone experienced this and what actions did you take....any advice would be most welcomed thanks. By the way i have my sleeve done on Nov 3, 2014 and have lost 43lbs.

I am hypoglycemic and that has happened to me. I had to add some sugar to my diet and I am good now, just have to make sure I am eating every few hours and add sugar daily. I have a sugar monitor machine, you can get them at walmart fairly cheap. When I started to feel this, I started carrying it around with me and my sugar was super low. I now eat a half of candy bar, usually hershey, with the peanut butter to go. This snack adds 11 grams of protein. Hope you feel better soon.

Definitely sounds like reactive hypo - a relatively common side effect of WLS. If it happens within a certain time (30-90 minutes?) after eating a higher carb or simple carb , that is likely it. If it is "reactive" hypo, it would not show up at the doctors office unless you were exhibiting symptoms at the time. Get yourself a meter, take some baseline readings during different times of day and before/after eating when you are NOT dizzy or anything, then the next time this happens check it right away. My baseline is about 70, and during episodes it would drop to 40-50 (not a good thing!).

Similar episodes have happened to me, doctor thinks it might be Reactive Hypoglycemia. Mine didn't start until a year after surgery, after I had lost all my weight. I'm fine when I eat what I should, protein and veggies. I think what sets me off is sugar and carbs, especially when eaten alone. Since I've been staying on track, following the rules, it hasn't happened.
