Hi Everyone,
After struggling with overweight all my life, eating healthy and well balanced meals and finding no way to be another foor taller [lol] I have decide on weight loss surgery. Scary, Exciting!!!! September 19th is the big day with Dr Ortiz at OCC clinic. Originally had signed up for plication but after more research and a phone consult with one of the Dr's will have the sleeve as it has a great record for helping Type2 diabetes. I would ask for lots of feed back on your various experiences and tips. It is great having a community of people joined together and working to be healthy

Welcome to the group....lots of good information on here and other sites....do lots of reading and try to find a ballance for YOU ! No one answer or one way is the best. Good luck on the journey and keep us posted on how you do !

Hi Pam, Thanks for the encouragement. I can't believe you have lost almost 50 lbs already. that is AWESOME!!!! Let me know any other sites you have found good or tips that have worked well for you. What vitamins have been suggested for you?Take care Anne

DO NOT BE SCARED, YOU ARE IN EXCELLENT HANDS!!!!!!! I had my surgery on June 14th with Dr. Ortiz. Everyone there was amazing. I have never received the quality of care here in the US that I received at OCC. I was so sad to go home, in one short week they all became like family! The facility is secure, safe, clean. Rooms are private and care astounding! I did not have any pain whatsoever! I suggest you take papaya enzymes with you. I took 1 dose at midnight the night before surgery and didn't experience the misery everyone else had with gas pains. After other patients realized I wasn't in pain, they were all coming to get the papaya enzymes from me! LOL. I was glad to share. One of the surgeons told me that 85% of diabetics are cured within a few weeks of surgery. As for me, I was on bp meds for over 25 years. Three days after surgery I got really weak, thought I had over done it as I was shopping at the Mexican Mercado (2 blks from OCC) Turns out my bp dropped so low I no longer needed my meds. I have been off all bp meds ever since!
