Everyone is different. For me there was hardly any pain at all. I stopped taking pain medication after day #2. I was up and walking 45 minutes after I left the operating room.
The only real discomfort I would have from time to time was if I sat up too fast in the first couple weeks or rolled over on my left side while I was sleeping at night.
Even my incisions healed quickly and did not cause any pain. For me, it was a breeze.
I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago... the worst day is the day of surgery but its really not that bad either! you might have gas pains and some sourness but nothing that would make you think this was a mistake!!! I'm really doing great and I'm down 22 lbs today!!! It's the best thing I've ever did for me!!! Go for it you'll be so glad you did!!! Dr. Almanza did my surgery and what I loved about him is he had the same procedure 4 years ago and he looks great and he has a high success rate!
What people experience varies, also it depends upon your own tolerance to pain and discomfort.
Speaking only for myself, I was never in any real pain. The stitches & incisions will remind you they are there the first few days if you try to twist your body.
Try walking as much as you can after the surgery. It provides you exercise, helps prevent blood clots and can help alleviate discomfort from any trapped gas from the procedure.
They gave me Oxycodone to take after the VSG, I took it the first day or two and then only at night for the next few days; I could have managed just as well without it.
Your surgeon should be supplying all the recommended guidelines for you. There is some variation in the prep and recovery diets between one doc and the next. Follow that advice.
There are three stages of diet. Liquid, puréed and regular food, as tolerated. You need to talk to your surgeon. As you get closer to surgery, your dietician will be providing you details
