Question What other options do we have post sleeve????

    Hi guys!

Been a very long time since I've been here. I was sleeved last January so I've recently made my 1 year anniversary. I wouldn't change a thing about being sleeved. If I had to make the decision again I'd do it a million times over! However, I can eat a lot now you guys and I still have quite a bit of weight up loose to not be considered overweight. My question is what other options do we have as sleevers to get our stomach to accept a small amount like it was in the beginning sleeve days to maximize the weight loss again? Can you get lap band after you've been sleeved? I am just looking for info at this time.

On a positive note I feel great and honestly I look great too in my opinion. Looks wise I'm pretty satisfied where I am as I never wanted to be a small girl. But I'd like to loose at least 35 - 45 more lbs at the minimum as I'm trying to account for weight gain if I ever decide to have a child and weight gain some ppl experience with age.

I haven't lost any weight lately, but I no longer gain weight either, which I love because pre-sleeve it seemed like I couldn't stop gaining.

By the way when I say that I can eat a lot now, for example I just ate a whole 6 inch turkey and cheese sub from subway. Now bread is not normally in my diet but today I had a treat.

I'm trying to do another procedure soon. I found out my new insurance only requires 89 days of the supervised diet for approval and I'm sure my current appointment qualifies as the first 30 days. I really am too scared to convert to by pass that's why I was thinking the band because I really want to get to 180 or below and I haven't lost weight in months. I was a big looser in the first 6 months basically then pretty much nothing but a couple lbs here and there. Admittedly, I could work out more, but I work 12-14 hour overnight shifts and I'm working on a masters degree. I always say I'm going to work out more, but I'm so tired from my overnight work schedule that it just doesn't happen. I do take a 30 min break at work and walk the buildings or outside. My body just doesn't seem to want to let go of anymore weight though. I don't gain or loose anymore.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Seem to have reached a peak and that's it. Would like to lose abt 30 more lbs but doesn't seem possible.

Yup and I think they say most ppl loose about 60% of their excess weight. I've exceeded that already so idk maybe I have used the sleeve to it's capacity. Don't know.

I am going to make an appointment with my dr tomorrow and ask him about my options. I'm trying to be on his operating table in the next 60-90 days Lololol....

I did find this article from another doctor that says lap band over the sleeve is possible.

    Lap Band Over Gastric Sleeve

I am just too scared to do the cutting of the intestines that bypass requires and I'm quite comfortable with my food tolerances now. I hear that bypass patients can tolerate a lot less.... Not interested in that....

Is being able to eat a full 6 inch turkey and cheese sub on a sub roll, with lettuce, tomato normal 1 year out? Or does that seem like a large sleeve?

I don't know what the 5 day pouch test is exactly I think it's liquids right? I did a 7 day fast with a friend and I could still eat a lot afterwards.....

The 5 day pouch test is always suggested if you feel no restriction at all and can also help cut sweet cravings. The first two days are liquids (shakes, soups, etc) and then you start adding back In protein from soft to regular over the next three days.

Not sure what your doctor will say but mine said I could no longer qualify for additional surgeries, Since all of the co-morbidities that enabled me to get qualified the first go round are no longer existent.

16 months out. No way could I eat a six inch sub. Maybe half of that. I've never "pushed" my sleeve though.

Honestly I thought my sleeve was too big. I have never pushed it or intensionally tried to overeat. I just eat till satisfied.

I may not qualify for another surgery either. I'll have to see cuz my bmi says 37.

I will my insurance has a clause for revisions due to not getting within 30% of ideal weight, but you'd have to wait until 2 years out.... Idk but I'm pretty sure my sleeve is not small anymore.... There was a time when 3 bites and I was fine. I don't know what happened. I still feel restriction don't get me wrong. Pre sleeve I would eat a full sub. I also feel more restriction with certain types of foods, but I just think I can eat too much and I think that's my problem...,

You might lose more if you adjust what you are eating too, see the nutritionist.

I'm definitely going to do that. Still going to make my appointments tomorrow. Honestly, I'm going to go back to the exact diet I was on when I got approved for solids when you almost eliminate all carbs. I lost the most weight eating like that. I mean I got approval to go up to the next stage where you add in some more carbs, but I think for my body that was a mistake. I think I have to stay under 50gs a day to loose weight. At least that's how I was eating when I was loosing a lot.....

In fact when I get off work at 6am I'm headed straight to the grocery store, not even going home. Sugar free everything again.... and when I get home everything with carbs will go in the trash.... I want so badly to get out of the 200s. If I could be 190 I'd consider it a success.
