Canadians, did you get Travel Insurance?

Starting to get things in order and gather my info for VSG in Mexico. For those that have done it before, did you purchase additional travel insurance? Does the travel insurance cover surgery? Is your basic provincial coverage good enough? I have Blue Cross through work, good enough? Any input is appreciated. Want to make sure me and my family is taken care of if something was to happen as the result of the surgery while there.

Unfortunately our insurances in Canada will not cover us if we go for a medical procedure outside of the country. They will not cover you even if it is just for the trip to where you are going. I just went through all this the beginning of January. Sorry i didn't have a more positive answer.
