    Default Returning to work

    Hi all,

I am considering the gastric sleeve surgery, and wondered how soon you all returned to work. I work in an office where I spend 99% of the day sitting at a desk in front of a computer. is it realistic of me to think I could return to work in a weeks time?

Also, what have your experience been with loose skin after weight loss? I need to lose 70 pounds but would hate to have additional surgery after to correct a major loose skin issue.

Any other things you want to share, I would be so great full. Thank you

    francine

I took 2 weeks, first week was recovering (napping!), second week was relaxing/regrouping for my new lifestyle, starting to walk, shop for foods, etc. I'm a teacher.

So it sounds like you could have returned after one week, as long as I did try to lift anything heavy?

I too have a desk job. I was back at work on day 11. But if I had to, I could have gone back on day 8 or 9. I had a rough recovery and was hurting baaaddd for the 1st 7 days post-op. The liquid pain meds they gave me were so disgusting that I didn't take them and instead just toughed it out.

I've read accounts of others who were back at work as soon as 3 days.

it was 2 weeks for me, 1st week I felt so tired, 2nd week I got weak when out and about - turns out my blood pressure meds had to be cut in half - If you can, take the 2 weeks, unless you can work virtually that 2nd week!

I took 2 weeks off, but could have gone back after a week. However, that's with a very smooth recovery. Also, you may be quite tired, so if you do go back, don't expect to operate at full steam.

70lb isn't that much to lose, you probably won't have terrible loose skin unless you're a very small frame or carry your weight in a very specific place. I lost about 100lb, and I do have some loose skin on my tummy, but no worse than some of my friends who've had babies and not at all visible in clothing. I could get it done for cosmetic purposes, but I don't think I'm going to bother.

    Good luck!

Thank you everyone that has replied, I am thinking about the different answers and still trying to make sure 100% that this is the right move for me. My health is pretty good at this point by I am concerned that this will change if I don't address this weight issue soon.
