Drinking alcohol

I'm only 3 weeks post-op, so I'm not even considering drinking alcohol at the moment, but I was just wondering... any differences there? I remember when I went to the info meeting about the LapBand it was mentioned that you could get drunk faster. I don't drink a lot but I do enjoy being social, or some wine with dinner.

Is there anything I should know? Any advice from those who've fully recovered from the op?

I drank wine at my sons college going away party at 3 .5 weeks. I did not get drunk. I had a few glasses over a 4 hour period. No issues

you get drunk CRAZY fast! so just do it carefully and watch waht you are drinking you don't need the empty sugars and calories etc.

I was told you'd get wicked drunk fast too. I've tried a drink of beer. It tasted terrible. my tastes have sooooo changed since sx. The other day I tried a little wine. Just enough to get an idea. No effects.

I like my scotch and vodka. But, too much of a chicken at this point to try. I dont want to screw with my healing stomach just yet.

I tried to sip a bit of Diet Dr Pepper today, which was my absolute vice before surgery. It tasted terrible. I've had head cravings for it every since I started back to school, because going to Sonic was such a ritual for me and some of my colleagues. I was disappointed in a way, but also a little relieved since now I really don't have to worry about going back to the bottle, so to speak.
