    Default Staples Anyone?

So, my surgery won't be until April and I have ample time to think about it (which is driving me crazy!). I'm so freakin nervous about the staples. I'm afraid of having them inside my body, I'm mostly afraid that they will rust or something. Does anyone else feel or felt this way? Anyone who's had the surgery already, how do you feel about having staples inside of you forever? Am I just being paranoid?

I literally have never thought about that.

And now that I have, I'm still not worried about it.

    At all.

If you're worried, google is your friend; search titanium rust. Perhaps that will set your mind at ease.

I have had staples with my c-section, they are a little bit uncomfortable, but thats the extent of it. They wont be in you nearly long enough to rust. It's really no big deal at all!!!!

The staples stay in you after the surgery. As they cut your stomach, the opening is stabled shut.

This doesn't scare me and I have had them in me for ten months now. It's not like you can feel them. They are medical grade and shouldn't cause you issues. I know airport scanners don't pick up on them either.

I believe they are made from titanium.
The same material they use (as is and as an alloy) for the SR71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft.

If it is good enough for a $100M+ aircraft that travels at altitude of almost 100,000 feet and over Mach 3, it's good enough for me!

Internal staples and other hardware are commonly used in medical procedures. My daughter has a metal clip from heart surgery when she was 10 days old, and I have one from gallbladder removal. They are permanent and non-problematic. You can not feel them and they do not cause problems for future medical tests like an MRI.

I feel exactly the same and I still think now how long will they last because this surgery isn't that old so it's not as if they have 50 or 60 years of data to go on. Saying that I have faith in the tests that will of been done and although I know they are there I can't feel them and can't see them going rusty . It's a normal thing to do to worry about everything before surgery but after things will seam clearer .

Weight at pre op - 266lbs
Weight day of surgery - 257lbs

    First target- 210lbs- Hit 29/10/2014
    Second Target - 179lbs-Hit 26/01/2015
    Third target- 166lbs-01/03/2015
    Final target - 147lbs- 28/06/2015
All done in a total of 10 months and 22 days a total loss of 119lbs and I'm still loosing

I hope they don't cause problems if you are being shot out of a cannon, as I hope to do that someday.

The staples used to close your sleeve is made of Titanium, you will have them the rest of your life, and they do not rust. Titanium has been used for many years now from staples to knee & hip replacement and less chance of rejection like other things used in the past. I think it is cool when I go through the metal detector it never goes off but the body scanner makes it look like I swallowed a zipper..LOL
