    Default Prescription Appetite supressants

I've had my sleeve for 2.5 years. Last year I had health problems and could not exercise. All I did was work and sleep- no energy. I have struggled to get the weight off. After a few appointments with my surgeon he suggested the drugs Contrave or Belviq. Has anyone tried these drugs?

Please be careful with these drug. Such dangerous possible side effects. Since you have had the sleeve, maybe you could try to go back to the basics. Count carbs, get in protein and water. Good luck to you. It sounds like you have had a rough time.

I wouldn't be recommending a sleeved person try ANY appetite suppressant. Heck I wouldn't even recommend them at all. Years ago I tried them for about 6 months and they did work. I ate less and lost some weight. However I had to get off them because they were too expensive to keep up and I ended up regaining everything and then some. You're not meant to be on them forever.

If you're having trouble with losing weight, start all over from the liquids phase again to jumpstart you. You still have the tool to lose weight, you just have to figure out what YOU have to do to supplement it now that you're so far out.

Belviq works quite well for appetite suppressent and it's side effects are pretty mild.

Are you hungry a lot? Are you having a hard time not eating because you feel hungry? If you're grazing out of boredom the appetite suppressents probably won't do much for you because you're eating even though you're not really hungry. Getting back to basics was good advice. Protein and water. Perhaps meeting with a therapist to discuss what it is that makes you eat out of boredom or depression etc.. wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also I would add that you and your doctor know what is best for you. Strangers on an internet message board with no medical training and who do not know you from Adam will not always give good or even viable advice. Always take the advice you're given online with a grain of salt..

    Trexlee.
Thanks for responding. I'm considering the Belviq since my doc will prescribed it and insurance will cover it. I only want a little help for about a month to help get back on track. How long have you been taking the med.? How long until you saw results.? I'm concerned about side effects. And driving.

The first time I took it I basically only took the med for the two week free trial. it worked well for me lost about 5lbs. No real side effects. Maybe a very slight headache for the first couple of days but that's about it.

With that being said, about 6 weeks later I got if filled and paid the crazy high price to use it during my two weeks pre-op diet but for whatever reason the second time around it game me really bad diahrea (TMI I KNOW).. so I quit it after about 3 days.

Driving was nothing. It literally had no effect on me at all with regard to drowsiness or fatigue.

I took Belviq once. I was so excited as my dr had said it was really helping others. The first week I was on it I had a headache but no appetite! I thought I am staying on this forever- but it suddenly just stopped working. Like completely. I was a non responder I guess.
