When did people start noticing?

So I have heard stories from both sides of the spectrum here...people who don't want all the attention and people who would like for others to notice. I have now lost 50 pounds and not one person has said one word!!!

I am sure when you have less to lose that 50 pounds looks a whole lot different than when you start out at over 300, but I was kind of hoping some coworkers would have noticed by now.

So at what weight, or at what "pounds lost" did people start acknowledging it for you?

My fear is that I want people to notice now, but I also don't want to be in a situation where I am constantly getting questions about "how did you do it?" Ya, know???

It was probably around 30 pounds, (about 30%) for me. As soon as my waist started reappearing, I bought new clothes that showed it, LOL. It's funny, there in the middle when I'd lost like 50 pounds, I was getting a lot of weird looks like people (particularly those who didn't know about the surgery) couldn't quite figure out what was different. Got lots of "is that a new haircut"? and "Love the new outfit".

A lot of people are scared to say anything because they don't want to offend you. I've been really open about my surgery so most people knew why I had lost weight. Others who hadn't seen me in a long time would look at me differently and then I would notice and tell them that I lost weight and why. I guess you kind of have to gauge their reactions to your weight loss before you say anything. Otherwise, enjoy your new you and brag if you can.

I don't know what, if any, I've lost thus far (I'm determined not to weigh myself until at least a month out) but I've noticed in the past people start saying something after about 30-40lbs. I personally never saw much change by then but apparently my face gets slimmer and so do other parts of me and some people just notice it and pick it up like "hey you're different than the last time I saw you."

Since winter is here and it's freaking cold, I'm so bundled up that I look like I gained weight. lol. The only ones to really notice are my husband and the girls in dance class since I am wearing much less clothing there. I joke that as it gets colder, I keep adding a layer, and by the time spring rolls around and I start shedding clothes, people are going to be super shocked at the difference! I have no intention of getting rid of any of my really heavy wool sweaters that are too big, because they are comfortable and super warm and I can keep adding layers under it. My strategy is to go from linebacker to hot babe come warm weather (which since we had snow in the beginning of May last year, I'm thinking my big reveal will be Memorial Weekend. lol)

People started noticing a change around 30 LBS on me...I am down 51 LBS now and looking forward to hitting my next goal in 15 LBS.....Onederland!!!!!

It was around 40-50lbs for me, too. Both fortunately AND unfortunately, I am very proportionate, and when you lose weight evenly, it take FOREVER to see a dent! I remember saying to my mom, "Have I lost 30 lbs in my TOES, because I'm just not able to see it!" LOL

People didn't start noticing until I had lost around 70lbs+. It was super frustrating!! I'd get a lot of: "are those new glasses?" And "did you change your hair" lol!! Now I get it almost daily at work from customers and it kind of makes me uncomfortable!! Go figure!! I wanted people to notice soooo bad and now they are noticing TOO much!! My husbands family (which is huge and we see often) hadn't said a word until I hit the 80lb mark and then all of a sudden one family dinner, that's all anyone wanted to talk about. I was really uncomfortable to be honest, because I haven't told them all about my surgery. Hang in there, people will start noticing soon and it will be all anyone wants to talk about

I think if people see you everyday, like coworkers, it takes a long time. But it doesn't really matter, YOU know you lost 50 pounds, which is amazing. Way to go!

apythia, I like your "big reveal" plan. I, too, am wearing some scrumptious big sweaters right now. Sooo warm.

I agree -- at 40-50 pounds lighter, things look quite different. But, of course, it depends on where you started.

In my case, I've lost and gained weight so often that nobody's all that startled by THIS weight loss. Makes it easier, actually.

Nonetheless, I'm starting to look pretty cute again.

it was 50 to 60lbs before people that didnt know started asking! I was kinda bummed at first but like somone said hey its 50 lbs and I know it and thats all that matters! your doing great!

People are starting to notice. Now they are asking if I am sick. I told them I am on a medically supervised diet for my heart health and they wish me luck and give me support.

It was about 50 lbs. The day I wore a fitted top, everyone was like wow, you look great. I am only 5ft tall, and I was big around than I was tall. I get compliments everyday still. Some call me skinny, some say your going to disappear, but I know what is underneath. I am good at a accenting the positive and hiding the not so positive. I guess compared to what I did look like, I do look skinny. I have been very open about my surgery, but there are still some who don't know and ask me what I have been doing to lose weight. I tell them something I read once, I am eating high protein, low carbs, low fat and weight loss surgery. Yes, that part comes last, because I work hard at this.

It was around 40-50 lbs for me, but I'm 5'10 so my shape started changing right away. I'm now an hourglass when I used to be a rectangle (great visual right lol)....my family noticed within 20lbs but I see them more often.
