After reading these posts, I'm vowing to weigh every day after I reach goal. And if I gain ONE POUND I'm fixing it the next day!!! This has been too much of a blessing in my life, both in health and appearance, to throw it away!

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
I started at 308 Dec 1 2011. My surgery date was 12/11/11. I got to my goal weight of 158# in 14 months. I continued to lose weight during maintenance and this spring hit a low of 140#.
I am currently about 150#, still within my goal weight, but alarming. this is normal because your hunger returns and habits return.
I am quite diligent and currently going through the process to get back down in the 140-145# range.
do not be fooled into thinking that the appetite reduction you experience the first 6-18 months will continue just like that forever. Now, the sleeve is still an effective tool, but it takes alot of focus on my part too!

Yup definitely what jane said above. I'm two years out and I can eat so much more now in one sitting than a year ago. This is where the discipline really kicks in.
Even worse case scenario though of putting some weight back on, it's SO much better than being very overweight and putting more on. I personally want to stay light because I've taken up distance running and it impacts my fitness and speed - but it wouldn't bother me from an aesthetic point of view to be 10lb heavier than I am now. And it's not a huge health issue if I was 10lb heavier. The scarey thing though is the idea that it just keeps creeping up.
I want to add that I have lots of fit friends. They work at it too. Maybe not as hard as the formerly obese, but they definitely work at it. Acceptance that this is our journey in life, our cross to bear, goes along ways.

I'm over 4 years out and I regained 35-40 lbs. My doctor told me it would happen but he told me after I had surgery not before. I'm currently looking into revision. My 2 choices are RNY, or Duodenal Switch. Since I don't want to destroy my sleeve in favor of a bypass, I'm leaning toward the switch.
Am I eating wrong? No. I'm eating the same things I ate post surgery. The only difference is, I can eat more of it because my sleeve has stretched.
Which is common with the sleeve. I don't regret my sleeve because I would be a lot bigger than I am now if I didn't do it. But I now realize I need a revision.
And yes, my ticker is old and outdated pay no attention to it.
When you get further out, how much can you eat? I am close to 4 months out and I just cannot picture it. I'd live to be able to eat some salad and veggies with my meal, but I still barely have room. Is that the type of extra room you have? At a meal, what's the typical amount you can eat now in volume?
So curious.

There is no "must / have to" in those predictions you're being told, Heather. Your nut is just quoting averages to you.
Plenty of people (Including people on this board) do NOT gain back 10% of their lost weight two years into their VSG journeys.
Yes, some people do.
And those who regain are doing something different from those who don't regain. And vice versa.
