I am three and a half weeks post open, and have only lost one pound in last week and a half. Have lost 21 since surgery, but has stopped. Is this typical?
Very typical and there's not much you can do about it. Just keep eating and drinking the limited amounts you can and it will eventually stop and you'll start losing again. Once you start losing again, I would suggest you learn as much as you can about stalls, what causes them and how to bust them and maybe even how to avoid getting them all together.
Lots of great info on here on that subject.
Good Luck
You just need to increase your physical activity !!
Google "three week stall."
Then continue on.

I have read through a lot of information this afternoon. It seems impossible at the moment to get 80 grams of protein down without shakes. I am 3 1/2 weeks postop, haven't lost in 1 1/2 weeks. I have followed everything the book said to do. Two shakes for 60 grams of protein and 1/4 cup soft protein. Have only gotten quarter cup down twice, cottage cheese, fat free, of course. I am so ready to get protein from real food. I am a nurse that had back surgery about three years ago, and have been so immobile. I'm not getting any strength back either, although I wasn't feeling very strong before surgery. I'm 63 and looking at knee replacement too. I'm hoping to go back to part time work, do things with grandkids and travel with my retiring husband. Hoping I haven't waited to long. I appreciate this site and the support offered. I'm going to be trying some different things now that I've read other's experiences. I have not even licked my fingers while cooking for my husband. Lol.
In your shoes I wouldn't worry this early about drinking shakes.
I'm nearly 12 weeks out and I use shakes maybe 5 days a week to hit the high end of my protein target range.
Good luck to you. I bet you do great. Don't expect the prize (high energy, better feeling joints, etc.) so soon after surgery.
I'm nearly 69, and I'm feeling better after 48 pounds lost. Give yourself a little more time.

Yes that's just about right I typically stalled like clockwork every 3-3.5 weeks during the first 12 months post op, my sister had the surgery the day prior to mine and she had the same experience. We noticed during the stalls we typically continued to lose inches. I lost 91 lbs during this time. Best of luck
What she said. You have hit the dreaded 3 week stall. We all do. Don't change anything and certainly don't up your exercise. All you can do is what you are and ride it out. It happens to us all. When it's over is when your weight will start falling off.
Good luck. Take care.
