Hi I'm being sleeved on 18th and drink very little alcohol but wondered how alcohol is likely to affect further down the line?

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! SUPER happy for you!
I am a social drinker (that's a total lie, I have a glass of wine nearly every night) and I waited until around 8 weeks to have a glass of wine. It was my 40th birthday, so what better reason!? It took me about 2 hours to get through one glass, and I didn't feel like it affected me any differently than pre-op.
I am now 8 months post-op and had 2 glasses last night and knew a 3rd wouldn't be wise...I was tipsy. Not sure if this helps? lol There is life after being sleeved, promise.
I personally don't drink but I have been told that because of the smaller stomach, you're less able to tolerate alcohol than you were before meaning you feel the effects with less than you did pre-op. I've never known a doctor to say 100% no to drinking after surgery but many require you wait a while and that you just be careful. So you can still go out or have a night in, you just can't have as much without getting drunk so watch yourself.
I too enjoy my red wine. I now have a glass of it twice a week. And by glass I mean either an aperitif or a brandy glass. That's all it takes for me to feel it. I'm fine with that. I really enjoy red wine and I can sip 2 ounces throughout the night and feel satisfied. And this is from someone who would drink 2 maybe 3 glasses every night pre surgery.
I'm nearly 12 weeks out and during that time have had (I'm guessing) a total of 6 glasses of wine, 2 ounces of scotch, and 1-1/2 ounces of vodka.
It doesn't affect me any differently than it did pre-op.

I have 1 glass or something maybe 3 times per week now in maintenance. I had my first drink post-op at about 3 months out. A Bloody Mary and it took me all night to drink it. It was "dinner". It's different now as I don't do wine WITH a meal but will have a glass before or after. I can't drink as much just because I can't do the volume. I think that helps me not get drunk really fast as much as anything. It's rare that I do beer because of the bubbles but when I do its Guinness which is very lightly carbonated. Love me some grapefruit or cranberry and Absolut now.
I enjoyed a cocktail before and even more now because it only takes a drink or two to get a buzz. Only problem is, once I eat something that buzz disappears quickly...lol... My husband calls me a "cheap date." I waited until about 2 months after surgery to try wine. Now i can drink anything of my choice when I'm out including my fall favorite, "Fireball."...
