    Default Flabby upper arms

As the weight comes off, my arms get flabbier. I have huge "flags" and it is embarrassing, so much in fact, that I won't wear sleeveless shirts anymore, not even in the privacy of my own home. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, do you have any tips?

You will have it and at times it seems worse than other times. But you will find that your skin will in fact shrink and one day doesn't look at bad as it did the day before. I have them, about 2 inches. Hate it, but I will deal with it for now. Lift weights, it will help build muscle and tone your arms. If you find another trick, let me know.

I just spoke with my Dr. about this at my appointment today. He said to lift weights to tone those muscles.

I always joke that I look like I could take flight :P I've got VERY flabby arms as well. I've been doing weight liftin at the gym to try and firm them up. I don't let it bother me too much, I'd rather have this loose skin than the fat that used to fill it. It's another sign of my hard work paying off, along with my thighs, butt and stomach. It's hard to look past it, yes, but you can absolutely torture yourself by finding new reasons to hate your body. My advice is to be kinder to yourself and accept that your body will be going through a lot of changes during this process, some of them exciting and some frustrating. I'm sorry if this doesn't help you, I'm just starting to figure out that being kind to my body during this process is invaluable.

My arms are terrible!!! your right its embarassing! I love sleevless too! but all i have heard is weight lifting...I swam a bunch this summer but now its to cold so Ive started weights. I can handle all the other loose skin because most of that is usually covered but the arms are hard to deal with. But Im happy with my weight loss so I will tone as much as I can and flap my wings and rejoice with my healthier skinnier life!

It is definitely helpful. I agree that my body is going through some drastic changes right now and will be for a while. I haven't done much weight lifting but I will definitely work on it a lot more. I agree with you too that I would rather have the loose skin than the fat that once filled it. Thank you for your kind advice.

I'm "glad" that I am not the only one going through this right now. It helps to not be alone in this struggle. Congrats on your weight loss!

Yes, I ran into the same thing. I even considered having a brachiaplasty to remove the excess skin. I visited a plastic surgeon who said that I should try hitting the gym before considering plastics for my arms. So, I started working with a personal trainer, we did strength interval training, and used free weights rather than using the weight machines. It really helped to shrink my arms, thighs, and stomach. Free weights are great because you aren't just lifting the weight you have to balance them as well. The PT told me to do 3 sets of the arm exercises in 12-15 reps, with the highest weight I could stand. He told me not to worry, that even using rather heavy weights, it was the best way to tone, and wouldn't bulk me up like many women fear. Building your muscle mass will also increase the amount of calories you burn when you are at rest, which also aids in your weight loss. The exercises worked well for me, give it a try, and if you are still not happy with your arms, there are surgical options out there. Best of luck dear!

My son told me I could be a bat for Halloween! Melanie is right, tons of exercise and use free weights they work better than the machines and when you think you can do any more, do one more.

I have had a theory for years, I believe Hillary Clinton must have major under arm dingle dangle. I mean really, have you ever seen her in anything but long sleeves? If she can do it, I guess that will be my future.
