    Default Tummy Tuck

    Hi All

I'M booked in for a tummy tuck in January 2015 and wondering if anyone has encountered problems with either the tummy tuck itself or with it making complications with the VGS? Any advice or information would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Linda.

Tucking the skin on the outside of the body has nothing to do with the internal organ (the stomach), so you will be fine. Best of luck.

It scared the heck out of me. I've had a lot of abdominal surgeries, so when I looked at the size of the incision I was very concerned. As Terrie says, they do not have to go inside the abdominal cavity so I really couldn't compare the two. They put you in a compression undergarment which will support you and be your best friend for a few weeks. Most docs put in a tube that has 3 days of pain killer in it that automatically keeps the surgical sight numb. You will be hunched over for a few days. Long story short, it is major surgery but with pain killers it is very manageable. It's the best thing I ever did. I had skin breakdown between my belly rolls and I was miserable. Your stomach will be so tight you will be thrilled.

Thanks for your msgs. Im aware the incision doesn't go into the abdominal cavity but there can still be issues. I've had my gall bladder removed (big scar) so the surgeon can't go above this scar due to necrosis issues and therefore I can't have the stomach muscles stitched up as he can't lift the skin to the top of my rib cage. I can live with that just not the belly rolls. Also, any pressure on my small VGS makes me uncomfortable so was wondering if the tightness of the stomach skin would press on my stomach and cause discomfort? thanks again all!
