There is a post on another part of this forum and the poster is frantic. This poster is a couple of years post op and has gained a bunch of their weight back and doesn't understand how it happened and what to do about it.
So, this is what I call one of them there teachable moments. I'm not going to post a link to the thread even though it is on a public message board. But, what I am going to do is point out the obvious to you so you don't make the same mistakes, two years later, that this person has made.
One of my consistent messages is to make your own plan, work your own plan, own the results and be flexible enough to change if needed.
If you do nothing but follow the advice of a nutritionist, your surgeon, the neighbor next door, other posters, or your dog (I still love that one Ann2...you are the funniest poster on here), you will never know what really does work for you and if you don't know that, you can't fix it if it breaks.
Don't believe me? Ask the poster I am referring to. After two years, you would think they would have an idea about what to do.
Each of us is different. That's something we can all agree on. Since it's true, there can't be a cookie cutter approach to post op nutrition. Some may need more fat and protein and less carbs. Some may need more carbs and less protein. Some may need no carbs, few proteins, and lots and lots of fat and veggies. Truth is, there is no wrong way to make your own plan. You will be sleeved for the rest of your life and so if it doesn't work the first time, then change it. As long as you don't over eat, you'll lose your weight. If you invest the time to figure out what makes your weight loss go into turbo mode, you'll lose quicker. And yes, that means that there is a combination of food, supplements, exercise, and hydration that puts each of us into turbo loss mode. And yes, it's different for each of us. So, if you take the time to learn what that is, you'll always have the keys to the Ferrari if you need them.
So please, please, please, please. For the love of all that is pure, good and skinny.
Own your journey. Own the effort. Own the results.
You have the opportunity to get off on the right foot early.
