Question Pre made protein shakes vs. protein shake powder?

Hi all! I am going to be doing some post surgery shopping soon and was wondering if there was any huge differences between the pre made shakes and the powder mix? Also, how many ounces were you drinking the first couple weeks after surgery? Thank you in advance for your time.

I cant stand premade shakes. I use syntrax nectars and mix them with unsweetened almond milk. Best of luck with your upcoming surgery. Hope you have a speedy recovery:-)

I've talked to people here who prefer both. The one thing people agree upon is taste buds changing after surgery. Most warn against buying too much of anything beforehand, cause you may not like it when you get home.

For my pre-surgery shopping, I grabbed some pre-made shakes from Sam's club. I will have to finish my shopping when I get home.

    Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!

I HATE the powder - never cold enough for my taste, pulling out the blender and etc etc - yuk. I'm too busy (lazy?) for that. I found some awesome ones at Walmart - Lean Body to Go, Pure Protein and the Atkins line of them. So easy - a little pricey but 90 bucks worth of them including a few boxes of protein bars usually lasts me about a month. I keep them in my pantry then grab 4 or 6 of them to toss in the fridge for the next week

I think you can expect to slowly sip 4-5 oz of shakes in the first week or so post op. Isopure in the 20oz bottle was easier to get down than shakes were early on. Pre-made shakes are usually smoother than powders, but if you use a good high speed blender the powders are fine. I just posted a recipe for a black and white shake yesterday. I happen to like most of the shakes and still have one every day. Get a blender bottle. I make double batches of shakes and keep them in the fridge in a blender bottle so I don't have to clean the blender as often.

I tried several different protein shakes ... pre and post op .... only one I really liked is premier protein by Kirkland ...sold at Costco ... still drinking at least one a day ..sometimes 2 ...good luck with your journey!
