I just had surgery with Almanza yesterday. Back resting comfortably at the hotel now. Everything went well, except as Char mentioned that General anesthesia did not like me, so I was very nauseous and throwing up a little off and on for several hours. I was throwing up blood, but they told me that was normal. Tomorrow morning I am scheduled for the leak test and then later in the evening I will get the drain bulb out. Can't wait to get that out. It is such a nuisance. At the hospital, they tell you to drink out of straws, but that actually makes the gas pains worse. When the doctor came and saw me in the hotel (different doctor), he said the hospital gives bad instructions. Do not use straws and do not drink the chicken broth (although it is very good) until the second day after surgery (not the day after) because it is too fatty and will make you more gassy. He also said the Gas X strips do not work for a few days because the gas has not made its way into the bowels yet, which I had discovered on my own that they weren't really helping. The key is, as everyone says, sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. My husband has been great and has walked with me every time I got up. Although, he did order room service and got a delicious looking chocolate mousse cake, which killed me. Lol. Overall, good trip so far, but I miss my kids soooooooo much and can't wait to get home on Monday! Absolutely cant freakin' wait. Oh and Char, totally disappointed because I only ever saw 1 baby in the nursery. Lol

I'd rather them remove my stomach vs fold it and staple it in a way that could lead to issues like stuff not getting circulation and dieing. I can tell you with 100% confidence almanac will recommend the sleeve

Dmart27, I was a little concerned about being cut too, it seemed invasive and harsh. I watched the procedure on YouTube and felt much better. (Don't get me wrong, it was a little hard to watch because I get oooged out by that kind of stuff.) not to be gross but they staple and cut at the same time so there is little to no blood. There are risks involved so do your research so that you are satisfied with whatever decision you make. Good luck yo you!

I will have my sleeve surgery this week feel free to ask any questions.

What do you mean by complication? Leak, nicked spleen, etc. ? Or reactions like nausea, blood pressure issues, etc. ?

Just an FYI... I had Plication and it's sutures, not staples. I love that we don't have the malabsorbtion issues. I've had 0 complications and I'm very happy. :-) All surgeries are a tool so all that matters is what you do with it.
