Default How not to kill this forum ...

Don't do what TiffanyTwilight is doing right now -- rapidly bumping four-year-old posts. She has already filled up the first 4-1/2 pages of "Latest Activity" forum pages.

What she has done is to push down, down, down the recent posts that current forum members have made and others are currently responding to.

Tiffany, I don't know if you're doing this out of some perverse necrophilia for MediaHound's old posts or you're having a manic moment or you're trying to destroy this forum, but please, please stop it.

    Sincerely,

    Ann2

They come across as a lot of irritating advertisements. Can the administrator delete them?

    Hi Ann.
I apologize, I did not know that my comments on these would bump them up to the top. I'm still new. But please. Before making me a post about me, message me. Obviously I'm not trying to kill anything and to put my name with that isn't what I've been working towards.
    Thanks.

In fairness, I wouldn't think about that if I was responding to something old. Every once in a while I am searching a particular subject and come across a really old thread that's of interest to me.

She thought she could......so she did!

So sorry, Tiffany. I did send you a private message before posting this, but you didn't see it and kept bumping threads. I was just trying to get your attention.

I do apologize sincerely for giving offense.

Simple--you reply to the old thread. In a lot of forum communities this is called "necro"ing a thread of discussion and is seen as annoying and rude. Most places would rather you start a new thread over the same subject, mostly because this sparks active conversation versus if you post in an old thread made by users who are possibly no longer active, where you can't really get much new feedback even if a couple others come in behind you to comment as well. And if you're just posting in the old thread to make a comment on the OP (original poster)'s problem then it's really an annoyance and futile because again they won't see it.

It doesn't go against any official rules but it's more about general manners when it comes to forum etiquette. Use the search function it's great to see if anyone else has had the same question and by all means READ these threads to see if you come across an answer but if you don't, make a new thread. Don't post in a 4 year old thread hoping you'll get an answer because chances are you may not.

No chance of that for me, I'm too lazy to search old posts :-) I wondered why a lot of the threads I'd been watching had suddenly moved!
