Hot flashes after eating

So I have a question for you all who have had surgery, either male or female.

Although I am in menopause and and have had hot flashes for several years they are more intense to the point of nausea as well as making me very light headed about 10 min after eating a meal. I am 8 months out from surgery and this has been going on since the beginning. It was hard to pinpoint and there may not be any correlation to my sleeve surgery, but has anyone else experienced being light headed or the nausea shortly after eating? I'm not eating anything different than I have since the beginning.

I have a nutritionist appointment next week and I'll bring this issue up with her as well.

I get the hot flashes when I eat too much or too fast. Sometimes if its something that my tummy didn't like I will get the hot flashes and then break out into a cold sweat. (no dumping just hot flash then cold sweat) Last time I ate /drank a Strawberry Banana smoothie from this little store. Maybe it had to much sugar or maybe because It was over 100 degrees outside I don't know but yuck I thru it away and felt better.

I'm only 35 so I don't think its hormones but I could be wrong.

If it's like that every time you eat I would ask the doctor.

Ask your surgeon or PCP too.
Could it do something to do with insulin/glucose or gallstones or just something you slightly react to when the food is higher in sugar or fat? I don't know, I do not have medical training.

Hi Khartt - I am experiencing the same thing. In fact my cheeks are red hot right now about a half hour after eating. I don't know why it's happening but it's been happening to me since I've gone on solid foods. So strange.

I'll check with my surgeon and nutritionist. I don't believe it has anything to do with my sugar levels nor what I'm eating as they haven't abated since my surgery. I get them even if I eat my meal slowly and take small bites. About 30 min after I'm done my meal things are back to normal. I can also say that I don't have them every time I eat, but most times. I had the same feelings before my surgery, just not as intense.
