    Default Surgery scheduled for 10/15 - I still have lots of questions!

    I have my surgery scheduled for 10/15 with Dr. Katz in Michigan.

    I am wondering:

    What size bougie did your surgeon use? Mine is going to be 32.

    Did your surgeon oversew? Mine is going to in hopes that it will help prevent leakage.

    How long did you do the liquid diet before surgery? My surgeon does 1 week but I have heard that others do 2.

    What else do I need to know to prepare?

    Mine is 36. My guy thinks that's "Mama Bear Just Right" (not too big, not too little)

    Did your surgeon oversew? Mine is going to in hopes that it will help prevent leakage.

    I have NO idea!

    How long did you do the liquid diet before surgery? My surgeon does 1 week but I have heard that others do 2.

    Two weeks: Week one - 2 protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine. Week two - 3 protein shakes. I could also have broth, sugar-free jello, sugar-free pudding.

    What else do I need to know to prepare?

    1. How many VSG surgeries have you done? (I'd hope she/he will say "more than 1,000.")

    2. How many VSG surgeries have been done at the hospital where I'll be operated on?

    3. In the last five years, what is your patient complication rate? What's your patient mortality rate?

    4. What's the MRSA post-op infection rate at the hospital the last 3 months?

    5. If there's a complication, who will fix my complications? You or another (other) surgeons? (If other, who?)

    6. What's my name? What kind of surgery are you doing on me?
