I had the lap band done twice 2009 and 2011 and neither one helped. I just wasn't in the right frame of my to restrict food. Both band came apart and the last time I did an upper gi and they found the band just hanging on my stomach. I tried to get insurance to pay but then the doctor wanted to wait 3-6 months to have the sleeve done after the band was taken out. I wasn't going going to wait that long. I called Dr. Almanza on the 5th, had surgery in the 12 and came home in the 15th. It was no big deal but I started watching what i was eating in March and lost 46 lbs doing it on my own. So I knew I could do it but I didn't want the weight to come back as it has in the past. My husband was totally upset about getting the sleeve because he had seen me do both lap bands. He had to move to FL for work. I went to see him in Feb and I was at my highest of 280 lbs. I was so humiliated that I had to ask for a belt extender on the plane and I told him he would never had to see me like that again. So in the 2 weeks, I have lost 26 lbs and still working on it. There will be days when you don't lose and then you lose 3 lbs in one night. I weigh every day just to see what is happening to me. I have about 350 pieces of clothing in closet and my mom will come and help me go threw it and get rid of my clothes to the ARC (a non-charitable low cost discount store that take donations.) and then sell Coldwater Creek for $3 that is the way to go until you lose most of your weight and then it is a mommy make over for me.
Good luck, God bless and take care.
