Default How early is too early for plastics?

Long story short, is that I am hoping to have plastics done at the end of the year. I am guessing that I will probably weigh between 160-165 at the time. For many many logistical, work, and family reasons, that is the only time in the foreseeable future that I can be away for 12 days to do it.

Is that too soon? When did you have plastics? Did you continue to lose after? If so, did it cause unfavorable changes in your corrected areas? If you had plastics within a year from having the sleeve(or when you haven't been at your goal weight for 6 months yet), do you feel as if your results are good? Would you do it again?

Please help me make this very expensive decision.

I have not had plastics done but I wish you the very best. In my mind the timing should be you and your surgeons decision.

Thank you, Laura. I do agree with your thinking, but I also want to have a good, long-lasting outcome as well. I am second-guessing the rationality of having it before my weight plateaus. I don't know that it will make a difference, which is why I posted. For the record, my surgeon said that he recommends that I lose an additional 20 pounds before surgery. I definitely plan on that and am aiming for 30.

We had a plastic surgeon talk at our support group, he advised being at your goal weight for one year before plastic surgery.

I didn't wait. I had 3 plastic surgeons each tell me I was ready. I had 10 lbs of excess skin removed from tummy...my skin was not going to shrink.

    I weigh 163now. I was 185 when I had plastics.

    I adore my results.

there is no one rule that works for ever body. Schedule a consult and see what the surgeon says. I thought for sure I'd be told to wait ..but wanted to know what I was looking at in advance.

Thank you all for your advice and been-there-done-thats. I have had a consult and he said that I would be ready for surgery any time now, but for optimal, lasting results, I should lose an additional 20ish pounds first. I have another consult with a different doc on 9-15. If the opinion is the same, I think I will move forward.

I was advised to wait 18 month. I'm a rebel and am considering doing the surgery 15 month post op. It is the only time of year that works for me with work, family and all the other stuff that comes up in life.

I'm 2 months past my 2 year mark and planning on the tummy tuck in a few months. I've been at my goal for a year and a half.

My barriatric doctor (not my surgeon) wanted me to wait 2 years. I've only lost 5 pounds since Feb and I'm at my goal weight so I figured I would go for it. I booked a date for a Brazilian Butt Lift. I just don't have a butt left. Sagging bum skin leads right to my leg...now if only my stomach was as flat as my bum!! lol
I was originally going to get a breast lift done in Mexico however I found a clinic in Miami with rates similar to those in Mexico. After some more research I decided to wait for more time off work to do a breast lift and tummy tuck together. That is why I'm doing the BBL Oct 3.
CG Cosmetic surgery....mostly good reviews however they had one really bad incident in Aug 2013. After reading many comments and getting CG side of things, I am confident that the CG staff were not to blame.

    ************** update ************************
I got the fat transfer AKA Brazilian Butt Lift for $4000 in Miami with CG Cosmetics and Dr Jacob Freiman . A little disappointed that by bum wasn't bigger however still a good improvement over flat, flat, flat. I think I had more fat to transfer but I've been told by CGC and a medic friend that I have excess skin not really fat left. I recovered quite quickly. By the second full day I was feeling pretty good, not perfect, but good. There was pain but it was tolerable. I stayed with a nurse who takes patients at her home. Keyla was a great help. She has the cutest chihuahua's if you don't mind dogs. She has two boys but they are pretty quiet. I stayed for several days but only really needed 2. Others may need 2-4?

CGC hasn't followed up with me and I was a little disappointed with that but then again I did read that in others blogs.

My next step is a breast lift and tummy tuck in the new year. AKA Mommy makeover although I never had kids! CGC quoted $7000 for both and includes implants, again with Dr Freiman. These prices are very competitive with Mexico. Since Miami is much closer it was a no brainer to go there. I expect to stay with Keyla again but only for 4-5 days then recover at my parents place on the west coast. Save some money!

I'm only 3 months out, but I went in for a consult yesterday. Surgeon said he wanted me at my goal weight for 6 weeks, with minimal fluctuation. He explained that if I lost weight after a tummy tuck I would not be happy with the results and that it would undo much of the work of the surgery. That seems reasonable to me. I also can take a large chunk of time off in December...don't know if that's far out enough for me, so we'll see. I have absolutely no patience.
