Default Wow, finally lost a little after a long stall!

It's been two months of no weight loss but I've finally started moving the scale again. Hooray! I was starting to get worried that I would never lose again but I guess my body needed the time to catch up. I'm still losing hair but it seems to have slowed down, so I am feeling a little better about it. I looked in the mirror today and I don't even recognize myself. I look so different that it is like some strange, younger version of myself looking back at me. Definitely the best decision of my life!

Congrats! I needed this today....Its like I could have written this myself, a two month stall and hair loss which has finally stalled.

Can I ask, did you do anything differently or just continue with your routine?

    Thanks

The only thing I am going to say is that stalls are preventable and can be broken with a little investment on your part. The investment is your time and interest in learning what causes them and how to bust them. I have my theories and there are many, many, many others who have their own theories and have been gracious enough to share them.

It baffles my mind how anyone can be patient enough to wait out a stall. Especially one that lasts for months I had one that lasted for two months also. I was trying to figure it out the entire time, and once I did, I lost more weight in the next four than I did in the previous eight.

Take the time to learn what causes stalls and then make a plan to bust them and, if done right, never get another one again.

I agree Tinman! I have read many of your posts and I am working on trying to figure out the cause.

I "may" have figured out the cause but am reserving judgement for a few more days (I don't like jumping on the scale constantly)

I have PCOS which causes insulin resistance.

I ALWAYS drank my 8 glasses of water with a Diet Decaf Lemon Ice Tea mix....It has been 1 week and I am only drinking plain water or water with Lemon... There is a theory that because of my bodies severe response to carbs/sugar perhaps it is treating the sugar substitute the same way.... I believe I am feeling different but want to give the theory a little more time to work.

    What do you think?

The only thing I can agree with is your embracing the idea of change. I have no experience with PCOS so I am not only hesitant to offer advice, but clearly not qualified. Please do some research on line and perhaps there is a board somewhere that deals specifically with your unique set of variables.

At the end of the day, it's my opinion that each of us needs to customize our plan to suit our body's needs, our own requirements, and of course, our individual tastes.

I applaud your for your flexibility.

I'd love to hear more about what you learn as I have PCOS and also no thyroid gland. So a double whammy. I am not drinking sugar-substitutes -- but I do think that I maybe there are some in the protein shakes. And also unsure - but maybe in some foods.

Are you on any meds for insulin resistance? My DR had me go off of them. Hope that is not a problem for me.

How much have you lost so far? It looks like about 5 pounds a month - is your ticker updated?

I am guessing that may be what I am able to do based on my 11 pounds for the first 3 weeks. We will see....

OK it has been 1 week with no artificial sweeteners and straight water and lost 2 lbs!

I realize that doesn't set off fireworks but after an almost 3 month stall, I am THANKFUL!

I didn't know what else was left to change.

I noticed a few others have broken their stall.... Any suggestions on what you changed??

    Well....since you asked....lol.

In my opinion, you are doing something wrong. While over 35 lbs is a great accomplishment, you really did that weight loss in four months...not seven. How would you feel right now if you averaged ten lbs a month since your procedure? Pretty darn good I would think. So, again, since you asked, I'm going to tell you some things you might not want to hear. First off, where did you get your current nutrition, hydration, exercise and supplement plan? Did someone do it for you? If so, fire them. It's obvious they do not know what they are doing. If you came up with your own, then change it. Period.

At this point, you can, and should, eat anything you want. Any restrictive plan is called a diet and diets do not work for post op sleevers. Your body is asking you for something. Since you're not giving your body what it needs, it stalls. That's my theory. Once I understood that and worked out a plan to serve the needs of my body, I lost an incredible amount of weight in a very, very short amount of time. I have posted page after page after page of musings, rants, and drivel. Most of it dedicated to my theories of what stalls are and how to bust them. Go to my profile page, hit the link that takes you to my recent posts, get a cup of coffee or Red Bull to keep you awake and start reading. Go find other sleevers who have been successful. MBL did it her way and her plan is way different than mine. So is Truffles'. She and I were sleeved at the same time by the same doctor and her methods couldn't be any more different than mine.

Take a look. If you have questions, please feel free to pm me. I'm sure MBL and Truffles would be happy to help too.

All I ask is that you open your mind to different ideas. Pick one. If if doesn't work, pick another.

Make a plan, work the plan, own the results. Change as necessary.
