I have just started eating soft food this week. I am weighing out my 4 oz allowance . It's not much food at all. Trying to follow the rules. Do y'all weigh your food?
I weigh or measure everything that doesn't come as a single serving (like a stick of string cheese) or 2 servings if I am going to eat them on consecutive days. Like if I am going to split a 4 oz. can of tuna between dinner tonight and dinner tomorrow night, I record it as 2 ounces of tuna each night and don't weigh it. Most liquids I measure by volume rather than weigh. Everything else gets weighed!
When you're eating soft foods, and liquids, you can easily consume more than 4 oz if you aren't careful. But when you get to full texture, you won't be able to eat much more. You'll be full on way less than you probably think is possible at this stage. I was concerned about how much I was able to eat at 1 month out, but at 10 months out I still cant eat a fourth wingding if I'm at Buffalo Wild Wings. It's mostly the texture that's easier to consume right now.
Don't let your brain trick you that 4 ounces can't possibly be enough. Going forward you must listen to your stomach and not your brain. I measure everything out. Proteins such as chicken and fish I weigh and everything else (yogurt, soup, veggies. fruit) I measure. I'm almost 9 months out and still can only tolerate at one time about 2-2.5 ounces of chicken or fish with 1/8 c of veggies or fruit; or a half of cup of plain yogurt with 1/8 cup of fruit; or a half a cup of soup.
