Default What are "sliders"? Went on vacation and may have found some

Thanks in advance - just returned from a vacation and a wedding. At the wedding I had some soft expensive cheeses and no problem. Also wine and again no problem.

Also (this was over a period of time) had salmon and some salad with goat cheese. No cake or desserts though!

Also while there had dinner which was a glass of wine, clam chowder and a scoop of ghiradelli chocolate w fudge sauce. Ate all the chowder (6oz) and about 2 hours later, the small scoop of ice cream.

When it all mixed together I felt a bit ill BUT did not throw up - next day had like a "food morning after"

At 7 weeks post op I just want to figure this slider concept out! Whats interesting is right now I have no desire to eat any of that food again.

I think of sliders as foods high in fat calories, low nutritional value and slip down into tummy very easily. Easy to overdo the caloric needs.

Sliders, to me at least, are generally carb-based foods(the more processed, the quicker they break down) that break down and pass through the stomach quickly, allowing one to eat far more than their normal capacity. Think of foods like crackers, popcorn, cookies, etc.

Well, in Indiana, sliders refer to the little hamburgers that are made at a restaurant named White Castle. They are very greasy and are fried with onions. Really not good for us.

Sliders to me are my trigger foods. Usually carbs are sliders for me. Oh and ice cream sandwiches are a huge trigger. My husband and I do not normally keep them in the house as I literally cannot control myself from eating them!!

    What is a slider food?

Right here, from our own GS forum, is the best answer I've found anywhere:

It's funny a cheese can be a slider , anything that can go right you without staying in your pouch. It's funny someone said Ice Cream Sandwiches and I tried one bite of one and it just plain made me sick. I am almost two years out. Sliders are almost always bad for you.

I figured sliders did mean something else, just thought I would throw a little humor in. Getting nervous about my surgery next Thursday.

For me, popcorn and tortilla chips are sliders. I can eat more of them than other foods without feeling discomfort, and they are salty so they make me thirsty and when I have (uh-oh) drank something right after I ate them I didn't feel any discomfort....because they "slide" right down.
