Benadryl's side effects aren't so minor

For the last 4-5 months, I've been taking Advil PM to sleep. (I've not yet been sleeved.)

This past week I developed a severe stomach ache and, yesterday, I finally went to see my primary care physician, suspecting I may have appendicitis.

Nope. I just had a world class case of constipation that was so bad that the doctor prescribed the same treatment that we do before having a colonoscopy. Obviously, I spent yesterday and last night getting very little rest, and this morning I'm pooped out -- pun intended.

I've also been to school (via the Internet) on Benadryl and its side effects, one of which can be severe constipation. It turns out that Benadryl suppresses our bodies' natural colonic movements. Ai yi yi!

Another thing I've been experiencing lately is dizziness, and that's also a a side-effect of Benadryl. Needless to say, I'm off of Benadryl.

(Why in the world do I always think that I will be immune to over-the-counter drugs' possible side effects?)

Just thought this is something that someone else might benefit from knowing.

I have a nephew who is hooked on Benadryl. He uses it to sleep. Scary stuff. Glad you found out and got rid of it.
