Default So does this frickin loose skin ever shrink?

I can't afford plastics. In a year will it be better? I hate it.
All my friends say "oh it will get better". None of those bitches had this surgery of course. Now my WLS buds have the same issue and of course one of them can afford plastics.
Who ever thought this would be something to bitch about after losing over 100 lbs? Can I have some whine with that cheese.

IT'S BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS NOW SINCE MY SURGERY. AND IM STILL GOING STRONG!!!!!!

I cannot say scientifically if or when it gets better. I can say that from what I read that the younger one is the quicker the skin will tighten up. It has to do with the calogen in the skin. With that said, I am a year out and have not lost as much as you YET but the skin is starting to sag quite a bit. I do not think I will be having plastic surgery anytime soon because of the down time. It was hard enough to have the WLS working offshore. Here's to hoping that the skin tightens up in years to come.

I lost over 160 post sleeve and over 180 from my lifetime high. I had excess skin!!!!

It does tighten some, but was approaching 50 and have gained and lost weight many times, had stretched skin from pregnancy etc. and there was no way that the belly was going to improve without plastics. Even with my massive skin, I looked great in clothes - the key is shapewear underneath and avoiding clothes that cause "skin muffin tops" even if that means wearing a little bigger size.

I had plastics in Oct 2013 and it really transformed my profile and no more shapewear! I paid cash, saved up the money... and went out of country as the price tag for everything I needed was huge. For people who have lost less weight and don't need as much work it wouldn't be so bad - but I was looking at 3 surgeries and 40-50K. Instead I did alot at once and paid closer to 15-16K... yes, still alot of money but I chose that over spending more money on a fancier car etc.

It helps that I am a single career woman and my kids are now mostly on their own...

I think that coming to peace with excess skin is the key and it is usually not as bad as we see it. My boyfriend didn't think I needed plastics before i got it but post op he saw the light and was amazed at the difference - even so I could have lived a good life even with my "skin for two"

cowgirljane (and Seth) thank you so much for responding!!!! Well so much for wearing size 10 jeans. LOL. Yup I got a muffin top there.
Well since I will be 58 Sunday then I guess its something to live with. And that is cool. All my money now that I save is going to my retirement. I really really don't want to be doing my job when i'm 70.

On another funny/sad note I asked one of my close friends if they thought I had lost enough weight. Yes they said, with feeling and passion. And then they said they want to catch me. Huh? They are on Atkins and only need to lose 80 more lbs! Wow It's not a contest. And they are jealous of me. This is from one of my dearest closest friends. Well honesty is always good. And they like it that I have a muffin top in size 10 jeans.

My worst part is my elephant legs! In capris, I look great, but I cannot find a swimsuit skirt long enough to really cover them. Insurance won't pay for legs or arms, so I guess I am stuck...

I would say age & genes have a lot to do with our skin. I will be 50 soon. I am 1 year out & my legs are the worst. My insurance did not pay for my surgery so they sure will not pay for any plastics. If I could have anything done it would be a boob job, legs, arms than stomach in that order. Ha wishful thinking.
I have been walking & swimming and I can tell a difference in my legs from walking. Not where I would like them to look but so much happier now than 1 year ago when they were big.
@Mbenson5 I found a swim suit at Kmart with the tank top and swim skirt, its a nice length and tanning your legs helps a lot also.

My one complaint is I am losing weight but so slowly..average 2 lbs a week... I did not have a faster weight loss the first few weeks .. Just my slow steady loss ..0ver. 5 months 40 lbs... But except for the bat wings under my arms do not have a lot of excess skin yet.
I am in my 60's and have really increased my activity a d have gained muscle .
So I am not as upset about that but I keep hoping this hair loss stops. My once thicker hair is getting thin!

I'm almost 60, 4 months out, down 70 pounds. I was getting the "elephant inner thighs and.butt" Awful! I've always put good lotion on my arms and legs after showering, but when I noticed the wrinkling, I started also focusing on the thighs and butt and added putting it on before bed also looking better. I have 6 children, so not much hope for my tummy. One of the guys on here posted that he was told if you rub hemorrhoid cream on your stomach, then wrap in saran over night, it's supposed to help. Haven't tried that yet. Have used it on puffy under eyes and it works there, so maybe? I have 50 more pounds to lose, but I guess we shouldn't complain if we have to wear spanks under our size 10 jeans!

Wow well we all seem to have the same problem. I have an "apple" shape so all my loose skin is bad around my stomach. I can live with the 'bat" wings and inner thigh saggies.
Just bought a shaper today. That will help.

I live in shapewear. I'm 35 and over 2 yrs out. My skin did not bounce back. I have very saggy arms, neck, stomach and inner thighs. It's hard to be okay with how it looks sometimes, but shapewear helps tremendously. My husband always reminds me that I could either have a bit of loose skin, or that skin could be taught because its full of fat. I was miserable as a fat person. I'd have to say that always makes me realize that loose skin is a small downside to massive weightloss.

I am 64 and so far my upper thighs do not look to saggy. I "aquajog"everyday that I can beat the rain here in Florida. I use a float belt ,water dumb bells and weights on ankles . Movement in 7 feet water is just as if I am "jogging "on land... The continued movement and pressure on the skin does firm it up a bit.. The trainer at our Bariatric program said. . You want to loss fat not muscle . A good balance is for every 2.5 lbs of fat you loss you do not want to loss more than a pound of muscle. I lost 5 lbs of fat the last time he weighted me .. And loss no muscle in fact gained a pound of muscle ..the resistance of the weights in water helps form muscle! Except for increase walking ,"aquajogging " is my only other activity..it is also a good calorie burner..there are some good Utube videos on this activity.
