"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
I am just over 1 year post surgery and have reached my goal weight within the first 9 months following surgery. I have kept at the same weight since the beginning of February and quite happy about that. I do find that I graze more during the day when I am at work, and I am surprised that I've not put on weight because of this. I still have my healthy meals of protein and veg, but find that I can snack around this without feeling too full. I am worried that my stomach is slowly stretching, so I know that I have to get back on track with that as I would hate to gain weight. My friends think I am too thin now for my height (5' 7"), but I disagree as I would like to be under 140lbs so I have room to play with if I do put on a few pounds! Overall, I am more than happy with my weight loss and still believe it's the best decision I've ever made! M x
Initial consult (6 March 2014) - 250lbs (had already lost 7lbs prior to this consultation!)
Start of official pre op diet (16 April 2014) - 245lbs
Day of surgery (23 April 2014) - 239lbs
1 Mth post op (23 May 2014) - 215lbs
2 Mths post op (23 June 2014) - 199lbs
3 Mths post op (23 July 2014) - 190lbs
18 Mths post op (23 October 2015) - 140lbs
I exceeded my goal and have maintained since. I eat small meals throughout the day. I still have a restriction, so it is not a problem. I'll have to admit that I have slacked off on exercising, but have made a pledge to myself to get my ass back on track there!
Hi all, been off for a long time. Feeling like crap and def not wanting to share my epic failures....
I'm 26 months post op and my goal was to lose 100 lbs and I did that and have maintained it. In fact today I'm still 151 but I feel that I'm doing my body an incredible injustice - I hardly eat and when I do I don't "feed my body" I could and should be taking much better care of it.
For the first 6 months post op I was so diligent - I didn't eat ANY carbs, I lived on broiled fish and steamed veggies. It didn't matter what people around me ate I craved my protein and veggies. I want to get back to those days, but pick your excuse.... I work swing shift, get home at 2-3 in the morning and don't feel like or want to fix something good for me so I grab a slice of pizza before I leave work. Granted I only eat half of it but... again I'm not feeding my body. I get little to no sustenance from that so I'm looking and feeling like sh*t
But on a positive note, with all this being said I wouldn't change it and I'm going to take baby steps to adjust my life back to the first 6 months. I felt amazing eating the fish and veggies - I know myself and an abrupt change back to that will make me physically ill so like I said, baby steps.... Today I had some chopped Asian salad with fresh carved turkey breast mixed in it for breakfast 1:00 in the afternoon breakfast LOL
Thank you for starting this thread. We all need to held accountable to ourselves and be reminded why we made the decision to have the surgery and get back to basics.
Thank you. And your post ^^^ reminds us all that this journey isn't just about a number on a scale, but about regaining our health.
Very, very best to you. It sounds like you are already turning this around.

I'm 21 months post op and had been averaging around 120-125 lbs. In the last month or two I've gained about 5-7 lbs. I know it's all on me because of my emotions. We moved from a very comfortable location at work to an environment that makes it difficult for me to do my work. I'm taking control before this gets out of hand. I had been going to water aerobics 3 x's a week and swimming 2 x's a week. But I started having big issues with my right knee in October and started skipping some classes. In January I basically stopped all water aerobics since. I just started back on my Saturday class and trying to decide if I want to try adding back my Tu/Th classes. I am 53, soon to be 54 in July, and I need a knee replacement according to my MRI results. I have some loose bodies floating around in my knee too, which I think is what is causing the pain I experience sometimes that is really bad. I think I could just live with the arthritis (no cartlitage under the knee cap). It's been depressing and I've turned to my dark chocolate and some carbs that I know I need to stay away from. I want and really deserve to get a tummy tuck and I'm not going to allow myself down this road any further. I'm so glad I found this thread! We all know what to do and I'm going to make sure this stays successful for me. You all will be there to keep me in check! Thanks so much!!!!
