    Default Pre-Op Diet Starts Tomorrow!

    Hi Everyone,
12 days to go and starting my pre-op diet tomorrow! Had my 'last meal' last night (out with the girls) and am all set. Must admit to feeling a bit tearful in the supermarket earlier today (not sure why) but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, so I'll be having my last glass of vino this eve and then tomorrow will be the start of my last ever no - sleeve diet! (Yay!) Am feeling a mixture of excitement, fear & anxiety - is this normal? I know I'm doing the right thing and I'd be gutted if I was told that I couldn't have the op ............ not even sure what I feel scared/anxious about! Just wish I felt more excited and less stressed! * sigh *

everyone has these mixed emotions! Its a life long commitment! I woke up from surgery thinking ...oh my gosh what have I done. Im only 5 wks out and havent had any complications but havent lost in 3 wks now. Everyone says its normal but it mentally very hard. You will do great and the preop diet is very important to help make your surgery go better. Best wishes!

Oh how I dreaded that last day before pre op diet started! The weight I put on was terrible as I had to have a 'last supper' of ALL my favourite things lol. I remember sitting on the hospital bed wondering if I could just leave but then what? I'm not long into my journey and it's been rocky but it's so worth it to see those clothes loose on me and to see one of my chins disappearing! Not sure what your pre op diet is - mine was low fat but normal food - I don't think id cope with a liquid only one but even the weight loss during that time is amazing! Keep calm and remember it is worth it in the long run x

Thanks Girls I'm basically doing Slimfast with a low cal meal in the eve, so could be much worse. Now that pre-op diet day 1 is here, I feel much more positive (although it is only 8.20am ) Have just weighed myself so now have my 'official starting weight' - just have to work out how to put it on here

Hi Debdeb, hope you are finding the pre op diet ok. Good luck for your surgery. Where are you getting your op done? Not long now. Hope all goes well for you. I found the pre op diet really hard. I told my surgeon it was a killer, and he laughed! The first few days were the hardest for me. I was starving and had terrible headaches, but after day 4 it did get easier. I felt very nervous on the day of my surgery, but soooo excited at the same time. You will be absolutely fine, don't worry too much and I know it's easier said than done. The surgery will be over in no time and then you begin your new, sleeved life! It's the best thing I've ever done. Just took me four years to decide to get it done! M x
Initial consult (6 March 2014) - 250lbs (had already lost 7lbs prior to this consultation!)
Start of official pre op diet (16 April 2014) - 245lbs
    Day of surgery (23 April 2014) - 239lbs
    1 Mth post op (23 May 2014) - 215lbs
    2 Mths post op (23 June 2014) - 199lbs
    3 Mths post op (23 July 2014) - 190lbs
    18 Mths post op (23 October 2015) - 140lbs

Aaw thanks DebDeb. I am also quite amazed that I have lost so much since my initial consultation in March and of course since my op in April. I was told that I would lose between 60-70% of my excess weight by one year post op. Well, I have lost over 50% in 2.5 months! It is slowing down now, but still losing and I've not had a stall as yet! You will do amazingly with your new sleeve. It's such a fab tool. I love my sleeve. It's good that your surgery is so close to home too. I travelled to Leeds for mine on the train from Newcastle. It was great, although the journey home seemed endless! Take care and I can't wait to hear how your op goes! Your getting sleeved on my birthday!

All sounds fab I'm 10weeks post op and I'm 32lbs down but actually 52 from day 1 pre op diet,
I've had no complications and have had a fairly smooth ride also, I eat small portions but bigger than is led myself to believe I'd eat at the same time.
I'm very happy with mine and my steady weight loss is great as I haven't told anyone apart from hubby & parents.
I agree with Geordie lass it's been a great experience the first few dad are rough but bearable and then it's been plain sailing.
Well done geordielass sounds like your exceeded expectations and good for you!!
Debdeb good luck and I wish you all the success to come but judging by your success pre op you'll do great!!!
    Xx

Hi Thebird - thanks for your post (it's great to hear from people who've had a positive experience I think I might be having my op at the same place you had yours? (Spire Manchester.) Do you ever go to the support group?

It's once a month 6.30-8.30. The next one is 5th August (but best to phone up and check) If I'm driving by then, I'll definitely try to get there

Well done on your great weight loss too! It's such a brilliant tool. I know before I had the op, my portion sizes were enormous. Now, my new stomach can only take 2oz of food at any one time! You're doing just great! Keep up the good work. M x

Well, the only thing I have planned for that day is my diabetic consultation appointment at the hospital for 11am! Apart from that it's just another ordinary day for me! . But for you, wow.... A new life for you. 11 sleeps to go! Really exciting! M x

It's great to read a positive note with out sounding full of your self, I have suppose to be on a high protein diet but that like pulling hair from under your arms pain full and hard to do at least for me I have days I do great but days I don't and there r most not. I guess I will not get down to it until it's right on me then I will complain, complain and complain. There is one thing I am doing now and that is crushing my med and I have a lot of meds and it taste a lot better with protein shakes. So I get a shake two maybe three times a day.
