Unsure what to think or how I feel

Hello!! This is my first time ever posting in a blog! I have PCOS and the doctor I am seeing for that recommended me have the surgery to lose weight. I'm really excited about it but at the same time really scared because I am only 23 and removing this much of your stomach is a huge deal but so many people have had such good luck with it. I have so many unanswered questions and mixed feelings hoping I'm not alone..

Feeling the same way! I just turned 24, and I'm very nervous as well! I'm having surgery in 5 days! Here for support if you need it!

My friend's daughter who had (notice I say "had" PCOS) recently had the surgery. She has lost 90 lbs. in less than 7 months, and is free of some of the symptoms of PCOS. She actually had fertility treatments and is the proud mommy of triplets (previous to surgery), and a 6 year old daughter. She looks amazing and is feeling great. I think you will find it really helps with the negatives of PCOS. Also, I wanted to add that my only regret re: the surgery, is not having it done when I was young (I was 61 when I had it). I feel my whole life would have been different if I grew up as a normal sized person. I think surgery and the lifestyle it allows us to live, is one of life's greatest blessing! thank you very much for that! that's what everyone keeps saying to me is that your just so young so its good to hear someone say that they with they would have gotten it done at a younger age!!!

I'm 41 and I wish I'd done it years ago too but I'm making the most of it now! It's such an amazing thing to look 'normal sized' and I wasn't morbidly obese when I started. 20 years of failed diets and a growing waistline told me I was headed for it though.

I understand your nervousness I think. Many of us came to this idea of surgery in our own time and approached a doctor for more info. You've had the idea thrust upon you by a doctor and now have to get used to it. Good luck! The ride was well worth it from my point of view.
