Default Dealing with food givers and such....

My friend at work, (yes, still my friend after this) asked yesterday what kind of bagel and cream cheese spread everyone wanted from Panera’s this morning. I thanked her, but declined. So, she brought me a spinach and egg mini quiche thinking that would be a good alternative. I do eat eggs and spinach so it should be a no brainer, right? It looked beautiful and I took one bite and was OMG!!!! This is SSOOO good. I noticed the beautiful crust was folded over the top of the quiche. It was golden brown, rich and flakey and……BUTTERY! Looking WAY too good to be healthy. I decided to check the nutrition numbers on Myfitnesspal before I took a second bite. That sucker had 540 calories and 39 carbs!!!!! I ate the inside only and almost cried when I had to send the crust to the garbage…………… I forced my hand to let it fall in! lol Dang…that was so hard to just throw away. But, I couldn’t do it to myself! She then offered me some orange juice. I said, it's full of sugars and carbs that I can't afford to take in. She looked kind of strangely at me saying "but it's healthy"!!! I reminded her that when diabetics are having low blood sugar they say to give them orange juice for the sugar...duh! lol

Just when I cleared this hurdle, they just this second brought around a list for a snibble day on Friday the 13th (any reason to celebrate and eat). The list has cheesecake, desserts, pies, cookies....you name it on it. I signed up for cheese and veggie tray.....at least I can eat that! lol We can't forget that these are the same people who bring in Dunkin Doughnuts or Krispy Kreme by the dozens just to have them here!!!!! Ah......this journey is an obstacle course each day! Happy losing!!!!

Sounds like you did really good. That's a difficult situation to be in but there will be a lot more of them in the time to come. Proud of you for doing what you could. Time will help all of you. Bringing treats that you can eat will be a good thing!

That must be really hard. You did a great job handling the situation though. Most people truly do not get it and they have no idea how difficult they can make it for us. Congrats to you!!!

They had a bring a protein treat at Christmas for the support group of our WLS Center. Apparently someone brought healthy brownies, they have black beans in them, strange huh, but they said they were very good. Here is a recipe for some if you want to bring a treat and still be able to eat it. 6 Snacks That Will Leave Sweet Tooths Satisfied - Part 2

Sometimes it is good to be self-employed. However, I've been talking with my waiters a lot lately because they can't believe that I ate such a little bit. I usually only order something that will re-heat well because I am sick of wasting food. It takes a lot to say no. I just bought my son a Jamba Juice and just water for me because I don't want the sugar or carbs even though it is ostensibly healthy. Lol. Congratulations on your discipline and keep up the good work!

I am a kindergarten teacher and there is always food of some kind in the lounge. We have food day once a month but parents and the PTA bring in things for us all the time. Next year when I go back newly sleeved I worry about how I will handle all the food.

I know it must have been tough to toss out the crust but I am sure that you were already quite satisfied after having the insides of the quiche. That is the wonderful thing about our little friend is that it doesnt take much to keep him satisfied. Godspeed on your journey.

People have crazy misconceptions over what is healthy. Hopefully she had good intentions at least,
