I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. I have seen some others that have had a bad experience because they did not ask enough question, they did not understand everything they were paying for or the processes or whatever, I've seen a few that had some minor complications too.

I had my surgery with Dr. Almanza in Aug. 2013, no complications, everything was awesome. Although to get the frozen pops or juice we did have to ask for them, they never did read our minds and just bring them to our room. In fact we had to ask for everything we wanted, we just used the phone and called or walked to the desk and no one had any problem getting us anything. Hotel and hospital were both very clean, and all the people were very friendly. Never had any problems getting communication either, Just got a call a couple weeks ago from the surgery center asking how I was doing and if my weight loss was going well.
Also my my mom, dad, sister, and two family friends have also had the surgery with Almanza and none of them had any issues either.

I recommend Dr.Almaza and the Weightloss agents team.
I always wanted to be a certain number but after losing and have the skin removed I looked in the mirror and I realized I had hit my goal... I see healthy, beautiful, and happy! Numbers mean nothing to me...but self worth does and MAN AM I VALUABLE!

OK. Fair enough. Your explanation makes more sense now. We've had people who would occasionally come in bad-mouth doctors or the procedure itself and then would bail and never respond. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Yes, I can be a little harsh but I just have this really bad attitude towards phony people. You're obviously for real and so please don't take my comments too harshly.

It's good to have the information you shared and I'm sure many people are appreciative that you came back to post your experience in greater detail.

So, what's your condition now? You have no lap-band at all and no sleeve, correct? If your weight is fine, plus you've spent significant amounts of money on cosmetic surgery, don't you think that you should take a wait and see approach before scheduling a sleeve gastrectomy? This is major and do you really need to go this route at this point? I guess I don't see how it will be of any benefit to you. That's kind of like saying that hand cancer runs in my family so I'm going to chop off my hand now even though I don't have cancer. Maybe you should wait a bit?

But again, thank you for clarifying.

My sister's lapband port sticks far out also, she can't stand it. She has lost a lot of weight and does look great. She will also get the sleeve when it is removed. The doctor said that most people gain their weight back after the band is removed, so the sleeve is a great option. Sorry you had such a terrible experience and thanks for the warning.

Hi Mercedes, that sounds like such a terrible ordeal. Maybe you should go to a bariatric center for excellence next time. These docs in mexico are scary from some of the stories i here. So did you ever get any kind of answer as to why they did not do your sleeve? I am getting band to sleeve surgery on Tuesday with one of the most well known top surgeons in the industry here in Arizona but i am still nervous as hell. Im scared to death to wake up with some tube going down my nose like that, did that hurt?

Im sorry you had such a horrible time, I hope you can go back somewhere better and get your sleeve

    lil-lisa

She looks like that because she has had the lapband. Many people (like me) are removing the lapband and getting the sleeve instead cause it works better and there are some weird stuff with the lapband. People judge my pic too and they completely ignore the fact that i state in my statements that i have the lapband they just look at the pic and think i am lying or something. Yea we are imposters who have nothing better to do than to come on this site and pretend we are bariatric patients. LMAO !!!

Mercedes don't worry about the haters. One thing I learned when I got my band and I was on a lapband site, if anyone got on the site looking like you, most the people would be mean to them (jealousy)

They don't understand the complications that we have with the band and of course we don't want to get the band removed and not have anything in its place because we don't want to go back to how we were before!

You go girl and keep it up. You go find a place to go get your sleeve and don't worry about the judges and the haters!

Yes I agree with you Help but when I responded to her nicely she has not even acknowledged me at all and when I asked her a question about the tube going down her nose which is making me very scared and nervous cause I am getting the same band to sleeve suregery next week she did not even respond to me or give me any support or answer my question.

This then leads me to wonder why some people come on here, to just selfishly vent their experience not giving a single thought to how they may be scaring other individuals and they just maybe want to bad mouth the doc and vent their misfortune.

I think when you come on here posting something like that you should be responsible enough to follow through with answering the questions of the people you just absolutely freaked out with the information you posted!!!!

I agree with every thing you have said here even the sorry that she had to go through that. It sounds more like lack of communication on both sides. I truly believe Dr. Almanza is a great surgeon so much that I trusted my only two children in his care.

I must admit that I'm a little confused why someone or why a Dr. would agree to do a revision and not JUST a removal of a lap-bad on someone who is already at goal weight and has already had corrective surgery. Having 80-85 percent of your stomach removed will automatically put you into a negative weight loss situation again, it would not just help you maintain your current weight you would lose weight from the reduction. You would risk the chance of becoming extremely under weight. This is what's hard for me to wrap my brain around.

It also worries me how quickly people will post their feelings on here with out regards to others feelings, fears and lively-hood. My boyfriend is about to become a MD/Doctor and I worry for him that people have a bad experience not even life treating and they will post stuff without a thought of how that will effect that Doctors lively-hood or how it effect the way people think about having a procedure or the procedure they already had. I just say think hard and well first, be accountable for you own misunderstanding or lack of effort (we have a part to play in our health and own well being) it is not all up to the Doctor. Then and only then post true and actual facts. Be ready for people to ask question and to elaborate on factual information. This is serious for you and others.

I suggest to keep calling them, to see if they will give you money back or is there intentions to do a part 2 of the surgery later. This might be better than wasting time posting on these boards which most likely will not help your situation may make it worse. I hope they straighten this out with you and find a happy resolution.

Ok, now I'm terrified. I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr Almanza June 30th but need to reconsider. I've done hours of research but this definitely is causing me to reconsider. Thank you for sharing.

Suzie if you are not getting a band removed but just getting a sleeve you shouldn't be scared from her post. Lots of people who get the band removed end up having to wait to heal first then go back for the sleeve. Look at all the people responding to this who went to the same doc and had a good experience. This girl has me freaked out about my band removal and she doesn't even have the decency to answer my question about something she said about tube going down her nose. If you have done research and you are satisfied with this doc, I wouldn't let this one irresponsible person who comes on here and freaks everyone out then just gets off the site worry you. consider the source
