    Default 7 weeks out

I am so happy that I had this done! I am 49 days post-op, I've lost 38 lbs! I have noticed that since my surgery since I know I can't eat but a few times a day that I am making better food choices automatically due to the fact that I don't want to waste a meal on non protein and vitamin lacking choices. This has been a major thought process change for me and I just realized that I was doing it without thought! I have been so fortunate that I have had no complications or lack of energy throughout the surgical process! I'm longer take the 4 blood pressure pills or the a acid reflux meds that I kept with me at all times! I am no longer a slave to the fast food restaurants or to things I couldn't do because of my weight!

Thank you mom for talking me into this. I would not have initiated the 1st visit if not for her urging. When she first started talking to me about the surgery I felt mad, defensive, and resentful because of our conversations. But I decided to look past my feelings and really look at myself and my life. I realized she wasn't criticizing me but was concerned for my life and health. I am very glad that I listened to my very wise mother, has more than likely saved my life. I am 42 and I obviously still need my mother's guidance!

Thanks for sharing. My husband was the one who brought up gastric sleeve after my second knee surgery. And of course I was defensive and angry. Glad I put that behind me and started to research the surgery. My start and goal weights are close to yours. Most people think this surgery is just for people over 300 pounds. They don't realize that you can be morbidly obese and in danger of major health issues at a much lower weight. My surgery is May 29th and I am ready - or least as ready as I can be.

    Continued success - Bonnie

Good luck to you! This is not an easy out by any means! You are so correct about the lower weight issues. We should treat everyone as an individual! I am 5'3 and was considered to be 100 lbs over weight per my Dr. That is a major health issue. I was under the impression before my surgery that I had to weigh much more than I did as well! I am still adjusting to the changes but any new lifestyle habits will take adjustments! Good luck on your journey!

I can relate to this. When it comes to a sensitive & sore spot, sometimes it's hard to distinguish between a loved one's concern and what we can construe as insulting. My husband did the same thing for me that your mom did for you, and I too was terribly hurt. But now I know he only wanted me to be happy & healthy. That's all any of us want for someone we love & care about. I'm 42 too, and it's good to know that someone is looking out for me, and will let me know when I am screwing my life up. lol Thank goodness for our loved ones.

Congrats! Cheers to your better health and lovely mom.

I love your attitude most of all - not wanting to "waste" your meals on negative/non protein and vitamin choices. Great encouragement!! You are doing fantastic. I'm somewhere near you in weeks and a bit less in pounds, but I'm taking the HARD and stubborn road, lol. Thanks for your post!
