Default Week 1 Post op diet

(Forgive me if I posted this already.. I could swear I posted but can't seem to find it. it's been a crazy week)

My fiance is now 4 days post op. We were not given any in depth instructions diet wise and are both a bit nervous about what to "eat" and how much..
He is on water, clear broth and sugar free jello. His printed instructions also say skim milk and protein shakes but its wording makes it unclear if it is okay this week or not. No doctors are available to call until Tuesday so he doesn't want to over do it and is sticking to water/broth/jello.
What did you guys have first week post op? I am afraid that he may not be getting enough protein/nutrition and I don't want him getting weak. I also don't want him to have too much and be sick.

I started protein shakes is the hospital. He should multiply his weight x .3 to get his daily protein needs. Exampke: 300 x .3 = 90 grams protein. 2% is better than skim....greek yogurt good also.

What he's doing is fine and your new stomach won't let you take in more than it wants just remember when it tells you your done your done.

Don't stress about protein just yet, his new stomach can barely handle anything. I had some plain yoghurt day 2 post op, but only a tiny amount, about the size of a espresso cup. I came home on day 3 and was having protein shakes, yoghurt and I also found chicken and beef stock (ready made, liquid, and I froze it in ice cube trays to defrost when I wanted) tasty and nutritious. I was actually allowed onto soft foods after two weeks, like poached eggs, but just liquids and purées those first two weeks. He may find, as I did, that he can eat/drink more than he expects, he'll feel the restriction after a few weeks. It freaked me out to start with, made me wonder if my surf pigeon had done anything at all!
