    Default laying the ground work

I have mentioned on here before that I don't want to proclaim to the world that I am having this surgery. It is a personal journey and tool that I will use. However, we all know there is so much more than that so I have started putting the other tools in place now. I have become more active over the last couple of weeks. The BIG eye opener today was when I started measuring my food to actual serving size. I realized I was sabatozing myself by eating at all my favorite restaurants having food funerals. No sense in adding on more weight prior to surgery! Hopefully by starting to measure regular food now the preop diet will not be such a terrible shock to my system. Also if those around me are accustomed to my new healthy habits the sleeve will not bring on too many questions or comments.

In the beginning i didn't tell many people. Now I'm two months out tomorrow and I'm proud of where I am and how hard I've worked. I'm no longer embarrassed that I needed the sleeve but rather proud of where I am and I'm excited to continue my journey. It also helps to hear my grandparents tell me how proud they are that I chose to do the sleeve and how strong I am to go through with it. And it's very exciting to see the shock on people's faces as well.

Thanks for the response. It isn't as much embarrassment as it is a privacy thing. This has taken me a long time to feel confident and comfortable with the choice of surgery and I really do not want any negative comments from an under informed, even if well intentioned, person. The exercise and portion control is a huge part of this process so I wanted to get a head start on that hoping it will be easier afterwards, but I got to say I have been shocked today seeing what I was supposed to actually be eating compared to what I have been consuming and it is a bit daunting to know that I will be much less than that post surgery.

Oh I understand completely! And don't worry, two months out and I still can't actually fit that small amount of food in my stomach. I had to teach many people about the surgery. I still haven't told many people outside my close friends, family and coworkers. But when people comment on my weight loss I do tell them. In the beginning i had planned not to. It took me a year to finally go to my first appointment. I was done with my 6 months of my guided dieting in August and had planned to do surgery in November but chickened out and didn't have it until March. You are very strong and it takes a lot take the decision. So don't forget that!

I haven't told anyone either. Not even my mother in law. I just don't feel like it's anyone's business. I am a hair stylist and have a lot of judgmental clients. I have 2 weeks until my surgery. I didn't even tell my parents until about 2 weeks ago. I think my husband is having a really hard time. He keeps saying I just don't want anything to happen to you and in a weird way he refuses to talk about it. When he says that it makes me feel like he wants me to cancel and then when I don't he seems disappointed. I just want to be happy and health and not chubby! Best wishes to you!
