Hello, I am three weeks away and super nervous but very excited. Any tips on the two week diet before?

Being nervous is understandable. If you can, clear out of your home all of the items you cannot have on your pre-op diet. I found I liked the taste of low sodium vegetable stock or broth better than beef or chicken. I also used bariatric advantage's chocolate, iced latte, vanilla protein shakes with unsweetened almond milk. I added cinnamon to the vanilla. Later on, I was clued in on PB2, powdered reduced fat peanut butter. I added this to the chocolate and used just enough milk or water to give it the consistency of pudding, Hope this helps,

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. It is nerve-racking but be strong. I am the biggest scared-y cat imaginable and I thought the surgery wasn't that bad. Just make sure you know ahead of time what pain meds AND anti-nausea meds you'll be getting.

Also, the purpose of the pre-op is to shrink your liver and the best way to do that is to not have much sugar.

    Best of luck to you.

Stick to the preop diet. As mentioned it is to prepare your liver for the upcoming surgery - get it nice and small and easy to lift out of the way so the surgeon can get to your tummy to do the procedure.
There is lots of news on this site, read, read, read especially the groups with all the information.

Thank you! I go next week to get all the preop shakes and I am allowed to have a few HMR entrees so I don't think it will be so bad. I am so ready to feel better! After 2 back surgerys and getting older I need this weight off my body!

You might want to order some sample packs of shakes. Unjury is my favorite brand with no after taste. They have a good sample pack at UNJURY Medical Quality Protein. Best Tasting Whey Protein Isolate Powder. Most Trusted Whey Protein Powder Supplement. High Quality Whey Protein. Also purchased sample packs of Nectar, Matrix and Bari-Wise (fruity protein drinks). Shop at Bariatric Advantage, Bariatric Choice and My Bariatric Pantry. Physicians and Dieticians seem to vary some. I have shakes, protein bars and protein "chips" for 2 meals (3 - 5 of them per day). Then I have one small meal of 5 ounces of protein and 2 cups of non- starchy vegetables.

My surgeon recommends Bariatric Advantage but I have added others too per my discussion with the Dietician.

    Good luck - Bonnie

I am on the diet now and I have been using the Premier Protein shakes from Sam's Club, Costco, or Bj's, whichever you have a membership to. They are 30 grams each and ready to drink. 11 oz. pre-made. Also I have drinking Wonton soup without the Wontons from the Chinese restaurant. The first time I ordered it, I got the wontons and am using them to infuse flavor into the reduced sodium chicken broth I got. I am allowed either a piece of fruit or small serving of vegetables with each one of my shakes. And of course all the water, crystal light, SF popsicles, and SF jello I can eat.I only have 4 days to go. Good luck to you!
