    Default Sugar free/Fat free yogurt???

    Hi to All!

Quick question... my surgery is on Wednesday and I'm trying to do a bit of shopping for my post-op "full liquids" phase. Any recommendations on Fat Free/Sugar Free smooth yogurt? I keep looking them up online and was hoping to find a greek type (for more protein), but am having a hard time finding one that is fat free and sugar free. I really don't want any of the nasty chemicals either, like aspartame. Thanks in advance!!!

I personally don't do sugar free yogurt.
I buy the Fage 0% and add PB2 (powdered peanut butter/Walmart pb section) or add some of the Torani sugar free syrup (Walmart coffee section)
I ate the sugar free pudding but that was it.

I also liked the skinny cow chocolate popsicles--I think they were sugar free.

You just have to find what feels good for you!

I used kroger brand grandmaster Greek yogurt in blood orange and the regular grandmaster yogurt. My spouse works for Kroger so I get discount plus that is what the nutritionist recommended as well. I also used gnc lean 25 ready to drink shakes they were good and still use them. I haven't found any yogurt that's free of aspiratame. Stevia is a taste you have to get used to.

I think you can not be both sugar free and fat free. You have to get the energy in food somewhere and it will come from sugar or fat. If you notice, sugar free foods are often higher in fat and visa versa.

My nutritionist recommended I focus on sugar free - and be OK with the fat.
For example - don't use the low-fat pnut butter - has too much sugar. So stick with the no sugar low sugar. At least that was what was recommended to me.

I haven't confirmed, but this makes sense... My nutritionist says even Splenda sweetened yogurt has sugar because yoghurt is made of milk and milk has sugar. She says the lowest is 6-7 g for an average sized container. I personally eat Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. 80 calories, 7 g sugar, 12 gprotein.

Even "sugar free" yogurt has a good deal of milk-sugars in it. It's just the nature of yogurt. I tend to eat plain greek yogurt made from 2% fat milk. If I really want something sweet I'll put some berries or a teaspoon of a strongly flavored honey on it like Wildflower or Buckwheat honey.

Another vote for Dannon Light&Fit Greek. 80 calories, 7-8g carbs (depending on the flavour) and 12g of protein. Really can't go wrong with that.

I've been eating 1 a day since I was allowed to eat yogurt. They are delicious and good for you too. I really struggled to find a Greek yogurt that a) I liked b) wasn't loaded with sugar and c) had a good amount of protein. I spent TONS of time in the yogurt aisle pulling my hair out looking for one. This one fits the bill. Make sure you get the GREEK one because Dannon Light&Fit (non-Greek) contains a paltry 5g of protein.

There are is sucralose in it but no aspartame. Don't know if that bothers you. I don't consume aspartame but I do eat sucralose and don't have an issue with it.

Simply chobani 100 lowest sugar content I have found non fat 5.3 oz I think tastes good.. and that's fruited varieties. Not smooth type has fruit chucks so would have to puree it if you prefer that texture. Love to add face 0 to anything sour cream is used in too.

If your a fan of the peanut butter try the PB2, you can find it in a regular version and a chocolate version. It is on the pb isle at wal-mart.

Thanks everyone! I was seriously at Wegmans last night for about an hour... 1/2 of that was spent in the yogurt section! And of course Wegmans is wonderful but has soooo many varieties of everything that I easily get overwhelmed. Psyched and ready for my surgery tomorrow! You guys are awesome... fabulous advice

I go to Wegmans too...and yes, their selection is HUGE. Can be a little overwhelming but it's good to have many choices, right?

You should be able to find Dannon Light&Fit Greek at Wegmans. That's where I do my grocery shopping and they carry my yogurt.

Thanks Kacie, I was looking for this product; also I'm not a big yogurt fan, but I tried your suggestion of adding flavored protein powder to Fago yogurt plus some clear fiber and loved it. Most flavored yogurts don't do it for me, the Fago is really like the Yogurt you get in Greece! Please keep putting up you diet suggestions, they work. I had forgotten about Egg drop soup which I now add no calorie Miracle noodles or rice to. Good price for them at:

    Miracle Noodle - Vitacost

Just a heads up, I decided to slow down my weight loss a bit so that my body could catch up. Being in my early 60's, I just don't think I could endure a tummy tuck surgery. Maybe if I was in my 30's.40s. or even my 50's, I do it but I'm a big baby and will look into skin tightening . The good news is I'm in 34 waist jeans. My goal is to be back in a 32 inch waist.

My advice to any newcomers is that I still look for Kacie's posts as besides being so cheerful, there is lots of good diet info.. She has only had a very few crash and burn stories.
