Hi I have decided to have the sleeve done here in the UK ....live in midlands.
the problem is that now I've decided to have the sleeve im not sure who to go with or how to start the process ???? can u please help me decide
thanks Sean
Hi Sean, I too have decided to have a sleeve in the UK. After a lot of research and free consultations, I've decided to go with The Spire (Manchester - my local), mainly for 2 reasons: 1. I was really impressed by the surgeon, who was extremely helpful, knowledeable and non-patronising & 2. The Spire seem to offer a really good aftercare service, including groups for people who have had the surgery. Am hoping I've made the right choice and that my sleeve will be happening in July Hope this helps (a little at least)
Is it normal for someone to not go through with the sleeve operation..... I decided to go for it in May and its now October and ive just made an appointment to see my surgeon to discuss for next week... if I had done it in May it would be all ovwer by now .... gutted
Hi Sean, I have just booked to have my surgery at the Spire in Leicester.I think the best way is to find a local private hospital and email them, they will call you back and book an appointment with surgeon this is usually free and then you make up your mind whether you want it done. There are various companies that will do them but you may have to travel to a hospital out of your area.I found it was £500 cheaper to go direct to a private hospital,Hope you soon get what you need. Please keep me updated.Pippin (sheila) Leicester.
Hi Sean, I'm DELIGHTED to say that I had my op done on 17th July at Spire Manchester and the whole experience has been TERRIFIC!!! My surgeon (Mr Li) was brilliant and the post operative help and support that I've had from the whole bariatric team has been excellent! Hope all is well at your end. X
Hi Sean
I am also in the Midlands, I had my op in London at the Clementine Churchill hospital. I had mine through vitality health insurance which I get through work and that is their nominated hospital. My surgeon was Mr Guy Slater and i couldnt recommend him highly enough, his whole team are great. He put me at ease and has a fantastic bedside manor. I had great care at the hospital and the after care is excellent.
You have to contact the hospital and you will have an initial appointment, I went on 24 january, Mr Slaters next available surgery date was 20 February so I went for it as I had already decided and researched. Research the hospital and surgeons as well as the sleeve.
You can inbox me if you want to.
Have you tried going down the NHS route?
It does take time, it took me over two years but I got there in the end after jumping through many many hoops, just a thought...
