Default Has anyone made Jello using Syntrax Nectar?

So, I have a lot of issues with drinking liquids that seem gross or weird to me. Unfortunately, all protein drinks are in that category in my mind. I thought that Syntrax Nectar would be my best bet, as the milky flavored ones *really* gross me out. I just bought a sample pack of the nectar and tried one yesterday. Unfortunately, I could barely get down a few teaspoons without feeling sick. It reminded me of ungelled Jello liquid. So I thought maybe instead of drinking the 5 shakes a day that I am required to drink for my pre-op diet, I could turn an equivalent amount of the shakes into jello by mixing it with sugar free jello instead of water. For some reason, when things are solid they don't gross me out as much (I know I sound nuts here :-) ) Has anyone ever done this? I searched online but couldn't find any recipes or techniques for keeping it from clumping. Any suggestions? The prospect of drinking these shakes is just so overwhelming to me.

    Thanks!

Not to change what you were told for pre-op, but my Dietician told me to have 5 protein items (shakes or bars) but that 2 had to be shakes. Then I have to have one small meal a day - 5 ounces protein (grilled, baked, roasted lean meats) and 2 cups of non-starchy vegetables. Couple of thoughts on the shakes for you: 1) did you make the nectar with water? - I like it better that way; 2) have you tried the Unjury protein powder for shakes? It is much thinner and smoother with skim milk than any others that I have tried. You can order a sample pack at UNJURY Medical Quality Protein. Best Tasting Whey Protein Isolate Powder. Most Trusted Whey Protein Powder Supplement. High Quality Whey Protein.

    Good luck.

Thanks for responding. You are lucky. My pre-op is very strict--2 weeks of jello, popsicles, crystal light and water plus 5 shakes a day made with water and not milk. One packet of unjury chicken broth per day and no other broth. That's it.

I did make the nectar with water, it still was gross to me. :-(

If you get a chance try the bariatric advantage orange cream. I found that one very smooth and felt it tasted like an orange creamsicle. What flavor of the nectars did you try? Some of them are pretty gritty and not very tasty. The ones I like are twisted cherry and fuzzy navel.

Thanks for the suggestion, BigPlansLinda! I have tried the lemonade flavor so far. I did get the fuzzy navel sample to try too. I don't like the taste of cherry, so that one wouldn't work for me. When I made the lemonade, it wasn't gritty, but there were white clumps in it. I read later that I shouldn't have made it with ice water.
