    Default MSWL, Nut appts, co-morbidities

I am just starting this process, and I know that I have to have at least 6 months of MSWL. What I am wondering is if what I have already done under the care of my physician might count towards that?

Also does anyone know where there is a list of co-morbidities? I was told that I may have some I don't even know qualify me.

    Thanks

Don't know if this helps - but - I have BCBS in Texas. On their website, they have a provider section that contains Medical Policies. I searched for Bariatric Surgery and found out everything about what it took to qualify. This included what BCBS considered as co-morbidity diseases in case I did not meet the definition of medical necessity by my BMI alone.

    Hope this helps.

I was referred to bariatric surgeon during 11/13 appt with primary care physician. Through the 6 month process, I found out that visit counted as visit #1, making me eligible for May surgery rather than June. Primary had to fill out monthly form for the insurance requirements. Ask your gastric surgery coordinator about this. Good luck!!
