All of you fantastic people have made me cry! These inspirational stories and the avalanche of success here has given me hope for the future. I have not had the sleeve done yet, I'm working on financing that venture but being a single mother without much support makes it a bit difficult. These darned kids ALWAYS need SOMETHING! "Mom, I'm hungry. What's for dinner?" DANGIT! I just fed you yesterday! LOL...anyway. CONGRATS to all of you beautiful people who have taken back your futures from the fat monster! I'm just a blubbering mess after reading so many wonderful success stories lol

I'm a single mom too I totally understand. I got lucky My insurance covered all but $500.00 of the surgery and that $500.00 was hard to get!

My insurance won't cover it because I'm not Diabetic and I don't have HTN. Honestly, you would think with a BMI of 48.4 I wouldn't need any comorbidities to get approved! It's craziness but I'm working on getting to Mexico.

Wow that is crazy! that's all I needed was a BMI over 40 and I think I was waaay past that LOL

These insurance companies never want to pay for things we truly need.

It's very short-sighted thinking on the part of insurance companies who refuse to pay for bariatric surgeries. They would save so much money in the future treating obesity related diseases. Many have seen the light, but I think they all need to get on board. Good luck with your financing. You certainly have the determination.

The same story went for me, with my insurance. Apparently, they considered me a "healthy obese." (someone PLEASE help me with that!) Because I am not diabetic, or even appear pre-diabetic, have low blood pressure, low blood sugars, and such they called me "healthy obese." I said to the rep, "So if I did have all those things, you'd be willing to pay for my meds for the rest of my life but not help fix the problem?" Nuts.

Good luck on the financials...You'll have a great experience when it does happen.

Hi... I was 298 and our insurance provider had an exception on our policy... everything covered except plastic surgery and weight loss surgery... So I started researching Mexico.. I has very hesitant about it.. but 2 months later and I'm down 50lbs! I wouldn't trade my sleeve for any money! Work hard to save up and if you go with Elias Ortiz you'll be in wonderful hands... I went alone and felt safe and secure the whole time... Best of luck to you!!

I also travelled to Mexico with Dr. Elias Ortiz because in Canada it is even more difficult for us to have surgery at all up here let alone being covered by any insurance. I sure wish they would put more effort into studying the results we are having by having this surgery. I am down 75 pounds and have never felt better! I wish you success with your journey and I get the crying part, its a super emotional journey!
