    Default Journey starts here....

Well, i survived my pre op diet and lost 6lbs. I am now admitted to the hospital awaiting my surgery tomorrow morning.
My private suite is nice. A bit like a hotel really. Not like a hospital environment at all. Ive just had my pre op assessment done....ECG, bloodwork and lung function test. All good so ready for the next stage...the sleeve gastrectomy. So far i am impressed with everything here. Just going to chill now and watch a bit of TV!! Will post again soon. M x

Geordie, I know you must be excited and a bit anxious! I am thinking about you and would like to know how you are doing, after the procedure. I believe you will do great! I feel like the sleeve is the best choice over lapband and bypass. There seems to be less chance of any complications. Try to relax and think happy thoughts!

Hello everyone. I am back in my private suite after spending 24 hours in ICU! the operation went well but I had issues with my blood sugars and my heart rate kept dropping. I am feeling much better today but a little sore. During my stay in ICU I had a cannula that tissued causing my arm and hand to swell. My other cannula site became loose and I had a pool of blood all over my bed! Not a good start to this sleeved side but I know it will get better. Hope you are all doing well. Will check back in soon. Take care, M x

It only gets better from here on out. Sorry you've had some problems but it does occasionally happen.

Give it a week and you won't look back. I'm nearly a month out and can't believe how great I feel and all the foods I'm back to eating but of course in such small amounts.

    Keep us posted. Good luck

    Hi Geordie,
Good to hear from you, I was wondering how you were. I came out of hospital yesterday armed with tramadol, paracetamol syrup and daily injections to prevent blood clots.
I had more pain yesterday than the day after the op - I think it was the surgery drugs wearing off.
I am on fluids now - mainly water, slimfast and tea.

Need to get well now - I have 2 interviews next week (Thursday and friday) so need to be tip top by then!!

    Keep in touch

    Jess

2days post op and I feel much better. Still very sore but the pain is minimal. Had such great care here at the Leeds Nuffield. Going home today so will recover much quicker in my own environment. I started drinking strawberry milk yesterday which was a little painful when it hit my stomach. I am guessing it is wind pain. Been moving and walking around a bit. Just sooooo tired. Was woken up every two hours last night to check my blood sugars. Everything else seems ok. The surgeon came to visit last night and he said my operation couldn't have been more perfect. So, I was happy with that. He said that I will be a new person within one year. Woohoo! Thank you all for your thoughts and support. I really appreciate that. I know all this discomfort and pain will be worth it in the end! M x
