    Default Calories per day?

I'm curious to know if my calorie intake is too low or too high and if it is impacting weight loss. I have been at 166 for over a moth. So, where is everyone who uses a daily calorie counter at on average?

Current stage - 6 months post op
    Daily calories - 750 average
    Nutrients - 40% protein, 30% carb, 30% fat

Im five months out and am right around where you are calorie wise. I do up my calories one weekend day to 1000-1200. I still stall every other week. I get between 60-80 grams of protein a day.
    Margaret
    1 month: 25 lost (194-10 day stall)
    3 months: 9 lost (173-halfway to goal!)
    5 months: 7 lost (161-1week stall)
    7 months: 4 lost (152-4 week stall)
    9 months: 1 lost (145-1 month stall)
    10 months: 0 lost (145-2month stall
    14 months: 0 lost (145-7 month stall)

My goal: 145...originally 129 but my body said no!

    Hello

I am not yet 4 weeks out. My NUT is happy with my average calories of 777 (I am getting 80-100 in protein) but wants me to work toward getting at least 1000 calories daily and she also wants me to work at getting my protein through food and not through shakes. Good luck!

I don't know if my info is helpful I am only 1 month out. I do track and I get between 600 and 800calories. I try not to go lower than 700, my fitness pal tells me eating too few puts you into starvation mode. Especially when I log exercise,,,it gives me back 300-400 calories!
I read somewhere when you stall increase your calories and you will start to lose again, I am not a doc or nut so this is hearsay. My friend who went to weight watchers had this happen as well, she ate too few cals. and when she added some she lost. Seems like only 800 calories you would lose right? I mean science says burning and eating less calories than you need you will lose. Hard to figure out sometimes.

Don't know what a calorie is. Don't count and don't write down and don't keep up with any thing but protein. I have to 30 grams of protein shakes a day, 2 of them and life is great I don't stress about weight anymore. I am free!!!!!!!!!!!!

My nut does not believe in counting calories. Eat your protein and get your liquid. A person can not live a healthy life indefinitely on less than 1200 calories per day. I aggree with my nut, eat the proper foods in the correct order protein first, veggies second, and fruit third and let the tool we were given (portion control by surgery) do its job. Calorie counting my whole life and I became 150 pounds overweight. If over a long period of time we take in less calories than we burn we should lose weight. I think that we become so obsessed by loosing weight that we lose site of what is our goal. We will, reach a point where we will stay at a certain weight, it happens to all sleevers, sadly it may not be your goal, only solution, diet harder, excercie harder, and obsess. I think that most of us have failed at long term dieting, because if we had become successful why did we get sleeved? I think that by not letting yourself settle into a healthy eating and excercie life style and trying to continue to obsess about getting to a body weight that is unrealistic we can set our self up for the dreaded diet lose gain back more weight, diet again lose, gain back more again, and etc etc, this plan really worked for me (sarcasm).

I do not count anything, just try to eat healthy foods. I stay aware of my protein intake. This is the rest of my life and I do not want to live it obsessing about food. God luck on your journey.

I'm with Christine. I don't count calories. I make sure I get my protein and water in and after that I don't worry about it. That's what works for me. I've never logged anything I've eaten and I don't plan to. I do weigh every day and if I see .2 or .3 increase from the day before I can go back and think about what I've eaten and make a mental note. If it's something I really like to eat I'll just step up my cardio to take care of it, or if it's salty drink extra water. I know this goes against a lot of current thinking but it's what works for me. So I guess my advice would be to not count calories and go back to the four basics: protein, water, exercise and attitude.

I try to keep my calories at or below 900, never more that 100g carb and 20g sugar, but always 70 to 80 g protein and 64+ water/fluids. I was told not to worry about fats as long as I am eating healthy ones. I rarely use 100g carbs. some weeks I go carb heavy and restrict my fats and other weeks I go fat heavy and restrict my carbs. This keeps my meals interesting and I don't get bored eating the same thing every day. There are times, like when my family was out that I will go over the 900 calorie threshold, but not over 1200.

Here is the thing... I am still early in this process and blessedly feel no hunger. If I did not make myself, I would not bother to eat. I need to count for that reason. I am thankful for each of you that can just do it without counting or really paying attention. That is not for everyone and it is not wrong to count any more than it is wrong not to. It also doesn't mean we are on a diet. . . we are paying attention to healthy eating.

I can understand the need to wanting to count something. Maybe instead of calories, just focus on making sure you get enough protein?

I just make sure I'm getting 60 - 80g of protein a day. Most days it's closer to 60g, so I'm trying really hard to bump that up. I recorded my calorie intake one day and it was about 900. Since I eat very similarly every day, I figured that was good enough.
It's been way too many years since I've been under 200 lbs. I think my body is resisting. Last week I had a 3-1/2 lb loss. This week, 1lb. UGH!!! I do know that inches are still coming off during that time though, so I try not to stress about it. I ♥ my sleeve!!!

    Default Re: Calories per day?

I started using myfitnesspal to track how much protein I was consuming, because I was in an almost 4 week stall the first month post op and a lot of folks on here advised me to up my protein (and I had no idea how much I was consuming). I think it's only natural for those of us who lose slow or are in a long stall to observe the calories and wonder, when you see a number like 600, 700, 800, etc, "How in the WORLD can I not be LOSING weight?" It's easy to dismiss if you have never had a long stall (I'm talking weeks, not days) and say you shouldn't count. I have done behavior modification programs before where you just cut your meals in half- I lost weight! Now, I'm on my second "major" stall, and it's over 5 weeks. I can't help but look at the calories, because I know I am eating way less than half of what I ate pre-sleeve and I really have no idea what to do differently to get the scale to move. I wonder the same thing- am I eating too much? Too little? What do I do? And I'm not going to ask the NUT because I don't want to eat low carb (and that's kind of what my crowd proposes) and I'm trying to just eat a variety and focus on protein. I'm suspecting it's not enough water (64 oz a day, on a good day). I'm trying, but drinking has become a real chore. Hugs to those stalled or slow!
