    Default Protein Intake Daily???

Can someone advise me on the protein grams per day advised post op?
I have just heard someone mention the protein shots that you can get, and they are 42g per shot.. Just trying to ascertain if that will just about cover it at one per day..
Can't remember what the advised daily amount was.. ?? Grateful if anyone knows?
    xx

My after care info was between 70-80g protein a day, keeping a watchful eye on sugar and carbs

I was told 70 to 80 ( minimum 80 for men). Your body can only absorb so many grams of protein at a time. One person on here heard it was 26, otherwise it is hard on your liver. I can't confirm that, but I know my nutritious also mentioned there was a max. Unjury chocolate splendor protein shakes are awesome. My 8 year old daughter even likes them.

We were told repeatedly 70-80 a day. I always wonder about absorption of any nutrient. One source says your body won't absorb more than a certain amt, another source says you can over do it and damage your body. It leaves me scratching my head, am I malnourished or toxic?

And I have a question on top of gastric bands............i have been reading the Unjury website and the reviews are pretty great.......so my question is a post op one...........when our surgery is over, we have to focus on getting water down for the first few days so that we can stay hydrated. My question is this: when do we usually begin the protein intake and can we drink Unjury protein with milk........or how does this work........this part is confusing me.

Yup three flavors "Protein Recover 03" oh its the G series (reading label, 03 is Recover, duh!) My best flavor is/was (don't drink too much of this now) lemon-lime orange. They have a mixed berry, wasn't bad. Oh and a grape one which I never bought not liking grape myself. You do get so bored with only drinking ice chips and water so a flavor switch was a nice treat and wasn't harmful for me. I would pour 4oz of gatorade over 1/2 cup of ice chips, sip on that I was so terrified to swollow early on never been a fan of throwing up and for me I haven't had to

I was intructed to eat between 95-113 grams of protein a day. They had a formula that came up with that number. Also, I was told to avoid the protein shots. They have a callogen in them that we don't digest real well. The gatorade recover doesn't taste well to me but to each his own. I've decided to stop trying and paying for new types of protein and stick to what I like. Eas from sams.

I was told the first few weeks aim for 30 to 50 protein a day but work on the liquid. That aim was 64 a day but they knew the first week that goal wasn't going to be met. After the first month the goal for protein is 60 to 80 a day and 64 ounces of liquid a day. I too was told to say away from the protein shots ... you want whey protein not the callogen. By week 8 they want most of the protein to come from food and not the protein shakes ... darn, I like my EAS shake. I found I am meeting the protein requirements 5 weeks out with a combination of the EAS shakes (17 grams) and re-fried beans ... easy on the tummy and fill me up fast, plus cottage cheese and milk. Good luck and the important thing is to find a happy balance with what you can eat and what you LIKE to eat.

I was also told 75 - 85 grams of protein a day. I have tested out the Unjury unflavored protein powder in Crystal Light. It is not bad. It does stay a little chunky if you try to put too much in. Just shake, shake , shake before you drink and you will be getting both protein and fluids.

Also, take two sugar free fudge pops and blend them with the chocolate protein powder of your choice. Yum.
