Wow 60 min on the elipitical I am on 10 and I feel like it is forever! I guess I will work up to that though. Is that the only excercise you do? I feel like I would get board doing that for an hour, idk.

Water is an amazing tool for exercise. There are some fabulous books/DVDs available that have different workouts for different ailments. With the osteoarthritis, you do want to be in a warm pool with a minimum temp of 87degrees F. Most therapy pool are between 90 and 94 degrees.
I swim as well Started this summer with a cheap pop up pool in the back yard.. well in Maine that's over with, too cold by the time I can get back in the water.... so I checked around and found several hotels in the town my MIL lives in that offer memberships. For me it will be about $350 a year to swim whenever I want in their 88 degree pool. I'll go before my "shift" taking care of Mom, after my 2 hr drive. I can't wait to get back in the water!!
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
My weekly routine includes 3 days aqua fitness class, 1 day cardio & circuit weights, 1 day/1 hr with personal trainer. I just expanded my cardio to include the eliptical (man is that thing EVIL). Goal for september is to drop 1 aqua and replace it with 1 hr group weight lifting (lots of reps). Gotta change that fat to muscle :-)
I want to do the best for my sleeve, but I am not much with exercise. I want to go back to the fitness center and use the pool, but its not very convienent for me, as when I get out of work I watch my granddaughter 5 days a week. so I have to figure something else out. I have a exercise bike, so I may try to use it before going to work in the am. I need some push in this part of my journey.
does the Fitness Center have childcare? The Y has childcare for 2 hours at a time. I was thinking about going there for water aerobics and my grandbaby can go to the Kids Zone while I am in the water. Several other Fitness Clubs here have the childcare, too.
I joined my local gym last year specifically because of the variety of their exercise fitness classes. They offer boot camp style classes, step aerobics, zumba, body, pump-weight lifting with light weights, spin and body combat almost like tye-bo. I do them all as well as walking with my husband several times a week. They last around 60 minutes, the instructors are very knowledgable and well worth the $30.00 per month membership fee.
We are members of the local Y. They have plenty of group exercise classes and many have hot tubs/saunas. I like their water aerobics programs.
Unlike fitness clubs, you can get a family membership for not that much more than a single membership. In addition to helping yourself, by joining a Y, you will be helping your community. As a non-profit, part of your month dues helps others in need.
Many times, Ys will let grandparents sign up their grandchildren under their plans. Not every Y allows that but you can ask. My parents were able to include my nephew, who they keep after school while my sister works. While you exercise, they can participate in Child Watch or other youth programs. (Our Y even offered to let us sign up Hubby's ex-wife under our plan so that she can take the kids to the Y when they are with her.)
I post on here about my Nordic walking with Trekking poles. I have started out really slow, I have bad knees and I am up to 45minutes now. I looked up just Nordic walking and they say its 745 Calories a hour. I am really enjoying it so far. I feel it when I get done and but my knees are not hurting as bad as they do with just walking. The web sites say they are easy on knees and that is why I got them. I think if people would just try them they would get hooked. LL Bean is where I got them.
X-box Kinnect has a lot of sport games as well.. and great family games to move around... and dancing.
Pilates ist great if you are heavy or older.. you can get it on a DVD to do at home... very slow but efficient movements.. relaxing but oohh.. you can get a bad muscleache... if I would just not be so lazy :O(
There are two type of exercise:
1. Aerobic - Swimming, Brisk Walking, Cycling, Jogging, Rowing, Aerobics classes.
2. Anaerobic - Weight lifting, Sprinting.
Well....
I like yogic exercise because it is one of the most recommended ways of maintaining fit in today's community. Hectic life has improved the need for yoga by a enormous edge. It delivers a lot of relaxed within the mind and provides religious peace.
