Default Fell off the wagon this w/e-only one to ever do so?

I am almost 9 months post op-have been doing great...except for this weekend. I am down 112 pounds. Ate bad all weekend & felt like I was an endless pit! I am in tears this morning...I gained back 2 pounds in a weekend! I am absolutely horrified that the demons came back & took over. Bad food & old habits kicked in for sure. Does this happen sometimes? Hoping I can get back on track today! I am just so upset with myself & absolutely horrified that the pounds can come back so easy. So, so scary. The fear of gaining the weight back is just so much. 2 pounds back feel like 20 this morning. Just want to forget this w/e & get back on track. Any others go through this?

Yup. I was in exactly this position last Monday. Own it, forgive yourself and move on. As said by others, you're not a diet so you can't fall off. Protein, water, exercise. You've got this.

I was bad last weekend, in the moment, I said it was because of my birthday so I should be able to. But on Monday, I didn't beat myself up over it, I just did better that day. This is such a process, don't let last weekend, break you, just do better today.

I needed to hear this this morning.... I too overate, things I haven't eaten in a long time...I was tired from working such long hours, and just grabbed whatever sounded good! I'm back to my program this morning, and I'm going to work out an extra time tonight to help make up for the extra calories!

Absolutely this happens. My bad time was the holidays and baking Christmas cookies for the grandkids. Today is that infamous Monday - back to basics, Protein and liquids. Take a look around the house and determine if there are foods that need to leave the house and go to the big garbage can (the one outside your house). Yes it is wasteful, but you own it, you can throw it away. If you don't have good food and snacks, make a quick trip to the store to stock up.

Don't beat yourself up, you had a weekend of old habits, put it behind you and get back on track. You will do great, down 112 pounds, you can do this. Have a bit of jerky and a big glass of water and celebrate being back to basics and back on track to your goal.

    Good Luck to you today!

Don't beat yourself up. That's a typical reaction as many of us know from before surgery. That was how I reacted to any diet when I "cheated." The surgery is a tool to help you with a lifestyle change. It's okay to splurge sometimes as long as you don't do it all the time, and two pounds is what our body can fluctuate on any given day.

I have found that the best way to overcome these urges is to plan my meals a week ahead of time. This doesn't mean I can't have a treat sometimes, just that I have less opportunities for the bad food to creep in if I've planned for the good stuff. Keep your chin up! You can do it and 112 lbs is fantastic! Congratulations!

No worries. Just get back on track right away. We all do that, it's normal. Just remember the weight is NOT permanently on you, you just have to work harder to get it off and off it will go!

It happens. You are human. You have admitted it. Can't change yesterday. But you can own today and make new, better choices. Don't let guilt hold you back and erode all of your hard work.

And chances are that the 2 pound gain is a lot of water weight. Probably the foods over the weekend were laden with sodium!

You got this, climb back on the wagon and head forward!

I would imagine the better question would be is there anyone out there who hasn't eaten stuff they shouldn't or eaten too frequently in a day. I mean, we're human and most of us didn't get to be obese enough for surgery because we ate healthy all the time.

I know you're feeling bad about the 2 pounds, but you need a little perspective. You'll read all over these forums about people who gained 2 pounds because their period was coming or some other non-controllable reason. My scale will fluctuate up to 3 lbs randomly. As long as the overall trend is going down, try not to obsess about a little blip - easier said than done I know!

Two pounds would be easy to lose. And even ever-thin people gain 2 pounds now and then after over indulging. Our relationship with food is perverted. I appreciate that you started this thread. It needed to be addressed for me, too!

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2

what do you all define as over indulging? I'm almost two weeks out. I should be starting soft foods on Friday according to my Dr. and I am still pretty much on liquid? Are you guys eating normal food or too much of it, etc.?
