Alcohol post op?

Hi,

I am due to have a sleeve on 22nd April. I have read sooo much on what you can and can't eat. I enjoy socialising with my friends and family including a few glasses of wine on a weekend. I understand that I won't be able to drink alcohol until I am on solids but can you tolerate alcohol once you are fully healed?

I know I sound like I am an alcoholic but I don't drink that much but love socialising!


I would love to hear about your experiences.

Well, I dont drink. From what I have read from others experiences in the forum is to be very careful because your new belly holds a lot less and people tend to get drunk faster and possible even from a few sips. Just remember to log the calories:-)

Hey Jess,

I was going to do a post about wine, but didn't know if it was appropriate for this site. I like you love wine. I've been w/o wine for about 6 weeks and I absolutely mourned the first 2 weeks without it, then I found I think about it less. Post-op, I haven't craved the heavy tannin or oak on my palette, but I miss the smell and giggles to be found at the bottom of that first glass with friends. People tend to be more sensitive about a fondness of "sinful" things, but I'm with you, I can't wait to have my first few sips again. I hope my taste for it hasn't changed.
