Can you ever drink "normal" again after surgery?

I can drink the same as before surgery, but only on an empty stomach. If I am taking my first drink after my waiting period after I eat, then I need to be more aware. But if I haven't eaten in a while I don't even think about how I am drinking.

Im one week post and tonight im finding myself taking normal sips and being okay too.

I used to be able to drink 16 oz without stopping. Nowadays, I'm almost 3 months out and while I can't guzzle drinks like that anymore, I can easily drink 4-5 big gulps without worrying about it. usually after the 5th one I feel a bit nauseous. During the "sipping" period I was constantly thirsty and thought I'd never be satisfied again. That passed pretty quickly.

I never had problems with drinking... I would say I still kind of gulp... Maybe up to 4 oz. take break and drink some more... Think different for everyone

I can drink pretty big sips of water or tea but if i have dr pepper i don't take as big of sips. I know it gives me gas bubbles.

Yes i have had a few and hasn't bothered me but I do drink more water and tea.

I have read that you can never have carbonated beverages again? I am having a hard time thinking about never drinking a beer again while I am river rafting! LOL! Just hoping to hear a little more from those of you that are at least a year out on your surgery concerning ongoing restrictions, how you have settled in, etc.
