    Default Alli

Has anyone tried the Alli program to lose weight before? I have a friend who is trying it and so far she has lost about 15 lbs in about 10 weeks and she is looking good. I am trying to lose weight before we have another child so I was wondering if anyone had used the program and then come off the pills and still kept the weight off?

Alli stops your body from absorbing the oils and fats in the food you eat... it just all passes right through you.
It's also about nutrition though so if you don't eat that stuff to begin with, you are much better off.

I have looked into this before and the way it sounds on the website it's almost like they are trying to retrain your brain to want healthy foods and when you mess up and eat too much fat you pay the price. Talk about aversion therapy!

I'm not too sure about Alli. I have a friend who started it and she seemed to have problems with loose bowels all the time. I don't know if it was the food she was eating or just that the Alli didn't agree with her. I wouldn't take anything that made me have to use the bathroom all the time. I just don't think it's worth it.

I had a few co-workers who took it one did really well with it but the other two didn't stay on it very long quite possibly because of bowel issues but it sounds like you can avoid that if you just stop eating fatty foods.

Interestingly enough I ran into an old friend the other day who has lost nearly 100 lbs in the past year and she said it was all thanks to Alli. I may have to reconsider giving it a try.

This is actually one of the pills I've tried, and to be honest, I really did not appreciate that gook flowing out of me. There was a time when I was asleep and I just felt wet. I ran straight to the bathroom and was horrified to see this really orange, sticky and icky liquid running down my thighs. There were times when I was at work and this discharge would show. It's just messy!

    Hi Guys,

I think with Alli, you need to follow directions like the amount of fat you can eat. If you go over that, then you get the bowel discharges. Remember that you have to maintain a good eating habit and lots of exercise with Alli.

I read a while back that the product manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, had commented that it is not so much as helping you block or not absorb fat, it's about teaching you to have a good diet. If you eat too much, then you get embarrassed in public. That's the beauty of Alli. But so far, there has been no side effect other than that oily stuff coming out of you. And the weight loss is evident for some people.
